Nigeria has affirmed its commitment to collaborate with Angola to enhance cooperation in public media and further strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations. The announcement was made by Nigeria’s Information Minister, Mohammed Idris, during a courtesy visit by Jose Zau, the Angolan Ambassador to Nigeria, in Abuja on Thursday.
Minister Idris mentioned that the Nigerian Ministry of Information had received a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on public communication and media exchange programs from Angola. He assured that the MoU was being carefully reviewed, emphasizing that Nigeria remains open to fostering bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of public communication and media exchange.
Idris also highlighted the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and Angola, emphasizing their shared characteristics as both are members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). He stressed the significance of both countries in the global context due to their substantial crude oil resources, which contribute significantly to their GDP.
The minister further noted President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s relationships with sister African countries, citing Nigeria’s active role in safeguarding democracy in Africa, particularly in places like the Republic of Niger. He expressed hope that the Angolan Ambassador’s tenure in Nigeria would further deepen the ties between the two nations.
This move aims to promote collaboration in the field of public communication and media exchange while enhancing diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and Angola.
