The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted a shipment of 399 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) en route to Kaduna, carried by a 33-year-old individual named Oluwagbenga Leke. The arrest took place on September 7 along the Mokwa-Jebba road, as announced in a statement by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi on Sunday.
According to Babafemi, the suspect claimed that he had received the explosives at a park in Ibadan, Oyo State, with instructions to deliver them to an undisclosed recipient in Kaduna. The suspect, along with the seized IEDs, has been handed over to military authorities in Niger State.

In another operation in Ogun State, Yinka Azeez, a suspected drug dealer, was apprehended at Sabo Lafenwa in Abeokuta on September 5. This arrest followed the earlier seizure of 41 kilograms of cannabis from Titilayo Adetayo at the Sagamu interchange.
Furthermore, two individuals, Muhammad Aliyu and Abdullahi Zakariya, were taken into custody for possessing over 426.5 kilograms of skunk. Their arrests occurred on September 5 along the Zaria-Kano road and at Hayin Arewa Hotoro in Kano, respectively.
Babafemi reported another significant arrest, stating, “Destiny Irabor was nabbed on Friday, 8th September, with over 180 kilograms of opioids loaded in his Toyota Sienna car.”
In Edo State, NDLEA operatives conducted a raid in the Ekudo forest of Onwude Local Government Area, where they destroyed cannabis farms spanning 4.236347 hectares. Additionally, the operatives raided the residence of Amuodu Egwehide, aged 40, in Iloje Okpuje, Owan West Local Government Area, recovering 22 bags of skunk weighing 261.4 kilograms.
In Yobe State, a suspect named Gapchiya Modu, aged 26, was arrested with 60 kilograms of cannabis along the Kano-Nguru Road in Nguru.
Finally, in Imo State, NDLEA agents confiscated 200 blocks of the same substance, weighing 57 kilograms, from Usim Orji, aged 45, along the Aba-Owerri Road on September 6.
The announcement also included the arrest of a wanted kingpin, Idoko Festus Ifesinachi, aged 40, linked to the importation of 76.9 kilograms of Canadian Loud. This particular drug shipment was intercepted in a container marked MSDU6686346 at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex in Onne, Rivers State, on June 2. The suspect was arrested at his hideout in Lagos and subsequently transferred to Port Harcourt.
