Ashamed To Be Associated Chidoka’s Verdict On INEC As A Monumental Disgrace
Ashamed To Be Associated Chidoka’s Verdict On INEC As A Monumental Disgrace....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Osita Chidoka, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its handling of the 2023 presidential election. Chidoka’s criticisms stem from the PDP and Peter Obi’s Labour Party (LP) contesting the victory of Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February election. They raised concerns, including INEC’s failure to carry out real-time result transmission to the election portal.

However, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) ruled that INEC had the discretion to transmit results as it saw fit. Despite the court’s dismissal of the petition and its confirmation of Tinubu’s victory, Chidoka held INEC accountable for not fulfilling its pre-election commitment to real-time result transmission.
Chidoka expressed his disappointment with INEC, labeling it a “monumental disgrace” and an organization he felt ashamed to be associated with as a Nigerian. He particularly criticized INEC’s inability to electronically transmit election results in real-time, given the assurances made before the elections, which included the Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun governorship elections.
He emphasized that he had previously called for third-party verification of INEC’s system to ensure a smooth election day process without technical issues. However, on the actual election day, INEC reported technical glitches, which Chidoka found unacceptable.
Chidoka pointed out that INEC’s defense, despite not conducting large-scale testing of the election results portal, was a matter of shame. He argued that it was disheartening that INEC went to court to argue that non-compliance with its regulations should not be grounds for canceling an election.
In Chidoka’s view, INEC’s struggle with these issues reflects poorly on Nigeria internationally and raises questions about why Nigeria cannot emulate countries like India and Indonesia, which have large populations but manage to conduct more efficient and credible elections.
