Ogun: Murdered Couple’s son Body Recovered Bound And Drowned .

Three days after the death of a couple, Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye, the body of their son, Oreoluwa Fatinoye, was pulled from the Ogun River.

On New Year’s Day, immediately after returning from the 2023 crossover church ceremony, the couple was murdered by unidentified delinquents in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The intruders then set fire to their bodies and home in Abeokuta’s Ibara Government Reservation Area.

Kehinde was employed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, while his wife, Bukola, was employed by the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
We learned that their housemaid and Oreoluwa were kidnapped and dumped into a river near the Adigbe-Obada Road in Abeokuta during the event.

The state police command later engaged divers to search for the bodies.

The decomposing remains of Oreoluwa were discovered floating in the river on Tuesday. It was observed that the victim’s hands were tied to the back with rope. 
A fisherman, Idowu Taiwo, spoke about the find, saying he discovered the body while preparing for the day’s work.

“On Monday, we heard that someone was thrown into this river, but this morning while we were getting ready for work, the police approached us and pleaded with us to notify them if we found the body,” he added.

“We discovered the body this morning, at 7.30 a.m., while inspecting our equipment in the river.
I called someone to assist us in obtaining the phone number of the police spokesman in order to notify him of the discovery of the body.

“Not long after that, the police arrived, and we showed them the body that we had brought to the riverbank.”
The corpse was afterwards removed by police in the presence of the victim’s family members.

SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, stated an investigation was underway to solve the Fatinoyes’ death.and a suspect had been arrested over the incident.

  • Guilty Plea & Sentencing: Justice Akintayo Aluko handed down the sentence on Thursday after Thaoban pleaded guilty to a two-count EFCC charge, alongside an alternative fine option of ₦1.8 million.

  • The Offense: Prosecutors stated that Thaoban acted as a middleman in 2023, funneling illicit funds to purchase the luxury vehicle, violating the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

  • Asset Forfeiture: In addition to the prison term, the judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of both the convict’s G-Wagon and mobile phone to the Federal Government.
