Woman Murders Co-Wife With A Pestle In Bauchi.

According to the police, a housewife was detained in Bauchi after being accused of murdering her co-wife with a pestle.

The first wife of the suspect’s husband is alleged to have died after being struck on the head with a pestle by the suspect.

 

 

According to the police, the incident took place at Gar Village in Pali Ward in Bauchi State’s Alkaleri Local Government Area.

 

 

The husband of the suspect reported the crime to the Maina-Maji Divisional Police Headquarters on November 22, 2022, according to Ahmed Walil, Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command.

Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, said, “On the 22nd November 2022 at about 6.00pm, one Ibrahim Sambo, male (40) of Gar village Pali ward, Alkaleri LGA, came to Maina-maji Divisional Police Headquarters and reported that on the same date at about 12.00am, his second wife Maryam Ibrahim, (20) of the same address armed with a pestle entered into his first wife room, Hafsat Ibrahim (32), of the same address and hit her with the pestle on the head.

“As a result, the victim sustained a serious degree of injury and was evacuated to a primary health care center in Gar village where she was certified dead by the medical doctor.

“Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives attached to the command swung into action and arrested the suspect.

“The suspect readily confessed to the crime while being questioned.
She disclosed that the deceased (Hafsat Ibrahim) had sent her son, Abdulaziz Ibrahim, 5, with a piece of fried pork known as (Tsire) on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at around 11:00 am to offer her (Maryam).
She began to feel strange after eating the meat, and she subsequently threw up the meat.

 

 

“Subsequently, she (the suspect) called Faiza Hamisu, a female at the same address who is the wife of her husband’s younger brother, and explained all that had happened.

 

 

“She also indicated that the aforementioned Faiza had given her an ulcer medicine after advising her that it was definitely an ulcer.

 

 

The suspect then entered the first wife’s chamber while she was still in the room, picking up a pestle in her kitchen, provocatively while she was asleep and hit her on the head, leading to her death.” .

Prosecuting officer ASP Olaide Rawlings established during the trial that Okusanya belonged to the Eiye Confraternity, while Gafar was affiliated with the Alora Confraternity, alongside other accomplices currently at large. Their actions violated several provisions of the Prohibition of Forcible Entry and Occupation of Landed Properties, Armed Robbery, Cultism, Kidnapping and Other Anti-Violent and Related Offences Law of Ogun State, 2016.

Finding the prosecution’s evidence credible and compelling beyond a reasonable doubt, Magistrate Oke delivered the sentence to serve as a strict deterrent against unlawful secret societies and violent disturbances in the state.
