Portugal defeated Nigeria 4-0 in their final warm-up match before the Copa Mundial, giving them the perfect send-off as they head to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.
One of the underdogs at this year’s World Cup, the Portuguese entered the international friendly hoping to win and gain momentum for the tournament.
And they got off to a great start in the ninth minute as Bruno Fernandez scored after latching onto a ball from Diogo Dalot.
Following that, the Portuguese took control of the game, with William Carlhavo and Fernandez controlling play from midfield in an effort to score more goals.
The 2016 European champions would have scored a lot more goals in the first half if not for goalkeeper Francis Uzoho’s valiant attempts.
However, they still managed to score when an Eagle was determined to have handled the ball in the goal, albeit outside the penalty area.

In the 35th minute, Fernandez scored it 2-0, giving Portugal a two-goal lead going into halftime.
With the arrival of Samuel Chukwueze, Emmanuel Dennis, and Oghenekaro Etebo in the second half, Nigeria awoke.
But Dennis’ failure to convert a penalty kick handed to Nigeria after Dalot was found to have fouled Samuel Osayi in the middle of the first half ruined Nigeria’s chance to cut the deficit in half.
G. Ramos gave Portugal a 3-0 advantage in the 82nd minute, and Nigeria was left to regret the error.
Two minutes later, Jaoa Mario ended the game, giving Portugal a 4-0 victory as they traveled to Qatar.
