Troops Neutralize Bandit Leader Kachalla Gudau.

The Nigerian Army murdered scores of bandits, including Kachalla Gudau, who led a group responsible for kidnappings and killings in Kaduna State’s Chikun, Kachia, and Kajuru LGAs.

According to available intelligence, the incident occurred on Sunday in the Kankami area, and Gudau was among those killed by troops as they repelled an attack commanded by the legendary bandit himself.
The corpse of the bandit, who is reported to have contacts with other notorious kingpins across the North West and North Central states, was retrieved from Kankomi Forest, where he had bled to death, according to a statement made by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.

According to Aruwan, after his remains were recovered, a large number of bandits under his leadership buried him in a place purported to be near Kaku Forest, in the Kaso general region of Chikun LGA.

“Rigimamme, one of Gudau’s trusty criminal aides, has been identified as another neutralized bandit whose corpses were discovered by forces.”
“Gudau was a key figure in the joint kidnappings of students and expatriates in Kajuru, Chikun, and Kachia councils, as well as the deaths of kidnapped people and victims who resisted abduction,” he claimed.

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced Sunmonu Olasunkanmi Thaoban to four years in prison for laundering ₦16 million by disguising its illegal origins and converting it into a 2018 black G-Wagon Jeep.

  • Guilty Plea & Sentencing: Justice Akintayo Aluko handed down the sentence on Thursday after Thaoban pleaded guilty to a two-count EFCC charge, alongside an alternative fine option of ₦1.8 million.

  • The Offense: Prosecutors stated that Thaoban acted as a middleman in 2023, funneling illicit funds to purchase the luxury vehicle, violating the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

  • Asset Forfeiture: In addition to the prison term, the judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of both the convict’s G-Wagon and mobile phone to the Federal Government.

In a separate proceeding, Justice Aluko also convicted four Bureau de Change (BDC) operators—Umar Muhammad Lamido, Yusuf Musa Yusuf, Abdulmuhimin Mahmud, and Muhammed Musa—for conducting unauthorized foreign exchange transactions outside the official market. Following their guilty pleas, each received a 12-month prison sentence with an option of a ₦100,000 fine.
