Thugs Shot PDP/Atiku Supporters .

One person was shot when suspected political thugs attacked supporters of Peoples Democratic Party Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in Eberi, Omuma Local Government Area, Rivers State.
Nnamdi Nwogu, the coordinator of the PDP Presidential campaign council in Omuma LGA, is one of the victims.
Nwogu, who confirmed the attack over the phone to our correspondent on Monday, said over 30 youths brandishing machetes and guns swooped on him, his aide, and three others on Sunday while they were pasting posters of their principal at the popular Eberi-Omuma junction in Omuma.
He claimed that the attack was ordered by local political leaders, noting that one of Atiku’s supporters, Udochukwu Nwakpala, was shot.
He stated that the incident was reported to the Eberi-Omuma and Okehi police stations, even as he urged the police and the federal government to intervene, claiming that his and his supporters’ lives were in danger.
Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa, spokesman for the PDP Presidential campaign council in Rivers State, condemned the attack and urged police to launch an investigation immediately in order to apprehend those responsible.
“This reign of terror on members of our great party in Omumu LGA who were freely elected to support Atiku Abubakar yesterday is highly condemnable,” Nwibubasa said.

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced Sunmonu Olasunkanmi Thaoban to four years in prison for laundering ₦16 million by disguising its illegal origins and converting it into a 2018 black G-Wagon Jeep.

  • Guilty Plea & Sentencing: Justice Akintayo Aluko handed down the sentence on Thursday after Thaoban pleaded guilty to a two-count EFCC charge, alongside an alternative fine option of ₦1.8 million.

  • The Offense: Prosecutors stated that Thaoban acted as a middleman in 2023, funneling illicit funds to purchase the luxury vehicle, violating the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

  • Asset Forfeiture: In addition to the prison term, the judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of both the convict’s G-Wagon and mobile phone to the Federal Government.

In a separate proceeding, Justice Aluko also convicted four Bureau de Change (BDC) operators—Umar Muhammad Lamido, Yusuf Musa Yusuf, Abdulmuhimin Mahmud, and Muhammed Musa—for conducting unauthorized foreign exchange transactions outside the official market. Following their guilty pleas, each received a 12-month prison sentence with an option of a ₦100,000 fine.
