The devastation caused by the disastrous flood, which has killed hundreds and destroyed countless homes in numerous states across the nation, has prompted a cry for aid from the former president Goodluck Jonathan.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The former president who made the call in a statement released by his office after he visited Otuoke in Bayelsa State, lamented that this year’s heavy flooding resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in most affected states.

Jonathan pointed out that many states, including Bayelsa, his home state, are now helpless because more than 70% of its geographical area has already been drowned.

“I sympathize with the victims of this year’s flood in several areas of the federation who have lost loved ones and homes worth millions,” he stated in his words.

“Urgent action and cooperation from all parties are required in light of the deteriorating humanitarian catastrophe in the impacted states.

Especially in my native state of Bayelsa, where nearly all local government districts are under water and the East-West Road stretch leading to the State has become impassable, I am moved by the dreadful situation there. This is leading to a shortage of food and other necessities.

“Today, I assessed the flood’s effects in Otuoke, my community, and a few other Bayelsa State communities,” he continued.
Due to the severity of the storm and the resulting disruption and destruction, the situation is still gloomy in many of the impacted towns.

“We must work together to achieve the goal of delivering hope and aid to all victims at this time of distress.
I pleaded with all decent people and aid organizations to show their support for these victims and others who are suffering.
