“We are going to prosecute the defendant. We are awaiting the assignment of the case by the Chief Judge of Gombe State,” Jungudo said. The case was brought to the attention of the authorities by a magistrate in Kashere who noted the severity of the injuries and referred it to the Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

This announcement coincided with a statement from Mwalin Abdu, Vice Chairperson of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Gombe, marking Children’s Day. Abdu condemned the brutal amputation and emphasized the need for robust child protection measures in the state.

Abdu’s statement, titled ‘Protecting our future: Urgent action needed on child protection in Gombe State,’ highlighted the increasing incidents of child abuse. She recalled a similar case from 2018 involving a 13-year-old named Zubair Abubakar, whose arms were amputated by his teacher. She stressed that despite the Attorney General’s involvement, many child abuse cases, including sexual abuse, child labor, molestation, and trafficking, remain unaddressed.

“The heartbreaking tales of young victims like Zubair Abubakar and Adamu from Gombe State point to a troubling reality: child abuse remains a pervasive issue in our communities,” Abdu stated. She criticized the gap between the ratification of the Child Protection Law in 2022 and its enforcement, urging stakeholders to take immediate action.

Abdu called for the implementation of robust reporting mechanisms, specialized victim support services, and widespread awareness campaigns to combat child abuse and exploitation. She emphasized, “The safeguarding of every child’s well-being demands immediate and resolute action. Gombe State must ensure that those who exploit and harm our children face the full force of justice.”

The Gombe State Government’s decision to prosecute Adamu’s uncle aims to serve as a deterrent and a call to action for stricter enforcement of child protection laws.

POLITICAL WARNING: Salihu Lukman Fires Stern Message To Opposition Over Fatal 2023 Errors!.

Former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman has urged opposition members to remain united and steadfast in their desire to defeat President Bola Tinubu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He stressed the need for a fresh opposition coalition under the aegis of the G100 to unite and endorse one presidential candidate to challenge the incumbent government.

Lukman stated that the need for G100 was to create a cohesive front that addressed Nigeria’s issues effectively, adding that the coalition was working on encouraging candidate engagement and defining a clear post-election plan.

He said, “We emphasize to all of them. Each one of them wants to be president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but only one of them can be president.

“Among G100, there are also people who strongly support some of them, and we had to appeal to ourselves just like we are appealing to them that look, we need to play the bigger picture. The bigger picture is that we want them to win the election.

“We want the opposition to present something formidable that will give confidence to Nigerians on the basis of which they will come out to vote for them and they can win the election.

“If we encourage them to go in this divided way, we will repeat what happened in 2023 and come back to square one. And the situation may not be what we are all bargaining for. I must admit, and I am not here to present something as if it is a very simple thing. It’s a very difficult task.

“We are appealing to them, including their supporters, to be considerate enough about the welfare of Nigeria and its people, and not personal interest.”
