In a tragic incident, bandits have reportedly killed over 40 individuals, including vigilantes, during an attack on Zurak village in Bashar District of Wase local government area in Plateau State. Due to the poor communication network in the area, residents were unable to immediately report the incident. Sahpi’i Sambo, a youth leader in the area, provided an account to Daily Trust, describing how the bandits arrived on motorcycles armed with sophisticated weapons and began shooting indiscriminately. “More than 40 people were killed while many were injured. Residents of the village have fled to neighbouring communities for cover. As of yesterday, security personnel had not yet arrived at the community. It was deadly,” Sambo said.

At the time of reporting, DSP Alabo Alfred, the spokesperson for the state police command, had not yet issued a statement on the incident.

He made the remarks on Thursday during an interview on Prime Time, a programme on Arise News, following the unveiling of a joint support structure for Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Sambo said he was pleased that supporters of both politicians were coming together, stressing that the movement appears to be driven organically from the grassroots rather than by the candidates themselves.

The decision, which took effect on April 23, 2026, was contained in an official notice issued by the organisation’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Augustine Nkeonye.

In the statement, the Army confirmed that Oguwike no longer holds any position within the company.

It stated that the public should take note that he has ceased to serve as Company Secretary and is no longer affiliated with the organisation in any capacity.

The court-martial, described as one of the most extensive in recent years, was established through an official convening order dated April 17, 2026, issued from the Defence Headquarters Garrison, Mogadishu Cantonment in Asokoro, Abuja.

According to reports, the order—signed by Major General A.M. Alechenu—stated that the tribunal was constituted under the Armed Forces Act, Cap A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, and is mandated to try the listed accused persons.
