Dubbed “Operation Desert Sanity III,” the mission aimed at eradicating all traces of terrorism from the Sambisa forest while extending a lifeline to those willing to renounce violence and surrender.
“Our effort is to ensure that we clear remnants of terrorists in the Sambisa and give those willing to surrender the opportunity to surrender,” declared Haruna, exuding confidence in the operation’s success. “With this operation, we envisage many of them will surrender as they have started.”
The rescue operation not only delivered freedom to hundreds but also showcased the unwavering dedication and professionalism of the Nigerian Army troops. Brig. Gen. Haruna commended their exemplary conduct and urged them to maintain their stellar standards.
Among the rescued individuals, harrowing tales of captivity spanning a decade emerged, underscoring the magnitude of their ordeal and the significance of their newfound liberation.
