Governor Sule, who recently filed an appeal challenging the gubernatorial election petition tribunal’s decision favoring David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), conveyed this message during a comprehensive security meeting at the state’s Government House on Monday.

While acknowledging the maturity and tolerance demonstrated by the people of Nasarawa State and some politicians during and after the tribunal judgment, Governor Sule called for continued restraint as the Court of Appeal hearing approaches.

The meeting also addressed the recurring attacks on farmers by suspected herders in six local government areas: Nasarawa, Doma, Akwanga, Keana, Obi, and Awe.

Governor Sule expressed his willingness to collaborate with traditional rulers to bolster grassroots security, urging them to re-engage local vigilante groups, citing past successful collaborations.

“There is an observed influx of strangers causing tension, especially around Keffi Local Government Area. We also identified criminal hideouts at the riverside in Karu Local Government Area and received information about suspected drug peddlers in certain hotels. Additionally, there are reports of sleeper cells in Nasarawa, Taraba, and Kaduna created by terrorist gangs.

“We appeal to traditional rulers to reinstate engagement with local vigilante groups, as they have in the past, yielding positive results. We are revisiting collaboration with all security groups to work with our people,” he stated.

Governor Sule commended the security agencies for maintaining peace, law, and order, as well as their efforts in rescuing kidnapping victims during the meeting.

The details were contained in a document signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu.

According to the schedule, the timetable sets out key processes including screening of aspirants, appeals, primary elections, and guidelines for the purchase of nomination and expression of interest forms.

The party also fixed the cost of nomination forms at ₦100,000,000 for presidential aspirants, ₦50,000,000 for governorship aspirants, ₦20,000,000 for Senate hopefuls, ₦10,000,000 for House of Representatives candidates, and ₦6,000,000 for State House of Assembly aspirants.

Tension In Oyo As APC Leader Alleges Death Threat From Lawmaker.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State, Gafar Oyebade, has been hospitalised after alleging that he was assaulted during a stakeholders’ meeting reportedly involving a member of the House of Representatives, Olafisoye Akinmoyede.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Oyebade, who represents the internal party group in Lagelu, claimed the incident occurred at the APC State Secretariat in Oke Ado, Ibadan, on Monday during a meeting convened to resolve disputes over the recent local government congress.

He said he was invited by the APC State Secretary, Fatai Adesina, to attend discussions aimed at addressing lingering disagreements within the party.

According to him, the situation escalated when he refused to sit among certain individuals in the absence of his political leaders, insisting that proper representation was necessary before proceeding.

Oyebade alleged that the meeting, which later moved into the office of the state chairman, became tense and descended into physical confrontation.

The APC chieftain stated that he has since sought medical attention and reported the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku, Ibadan.

However, Olafisoye Akinmoyede has denied the allegations, insisting that the meeting was peaceful and no form of violence occurred.

In a response issued through his legislative aide, Dr. Isiaq Akintunde, the lawmaker explained that the gathering was aimed at resolving internal party issues and not marked by any disruption.

The incident has further deepened tensions within the party in the area as both sides maintain conflicting accounts of what transpired.

A tragic incident occurred in Ilara-Mokin community, Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday, when a woman identified as Oluwasola Adebayo reportedly collapsed and died while accompanying her daughter to a Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination centre.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The incident happened during the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), leaving residents and witnesses in shock.

It was gathered that the woman had escorted her daughter to the exam venue when she suddenly began to feel unwell shortly after arriving.

An eyewitness, Abiola, said she showed signs of weakness before eventually collapsing at the centre.

According to him, efforts made by people around to revive her were unsuccessful, and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

The development drew sympathy from residents and passersby, many of whom expressed sorrow over the sudden loss.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, said the command had been informed and responded appropriately.

He described the incident as unfortunate and expressed the command’s condolences to the family.

He further stated that the deceased’s family had been contacted, and her remains were released to a family member who identified himself as her son.
