Nigerian disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has explained her decision to move away from her trademark pink appearance.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The entertainer, who became widely recognised for her pink hair, outfits and accessories, said she no longer wants her identity to be restricted to a single colour.

Cuppy made this known during an interview with GQ Poland, where she reflected on the role pink played in shaping her public image over the years.

The DJ explained that although pink had been a significant part of her identity for several years, her decision to embrace other colours was a reflection of personal growth rather than a rejection of the values associated with her signature style.

Speaking during the interview, she said: “I was known for the colour pink, and it was my identity for so many years, and a lot of people are asking what happened to the pink.

“I want people to understand that actually growth is something that will always come, and I don’t think I should be boxed into a colour.

“Pink for me meant power, vibrancy, expression, unapologeticness, positionality, and that’s still me, but I’m able to express it through other colours as well.

“When I think about my style, I think about a woman in a male-dominated industry. Maybe also when I first started 17 years ago, a young girl who was using pink to represent her femininity and stay in the room.

“Now that I’ve been through a lot of doors and kicked down some windows, I feel like I can represent my femininity through any colour.”

Chiamaka, the daughter of late veteran Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu, has appealed to the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to remove its social media post announcing her father’s death.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

News reports that her reaction came hours after news of the actor’s passing emerged. Ikpechukwu reportedly died on Thursday following an illness whose details have not been disclosed.

In a video responding to a condolence message shared by the guild, Chiamaka insisted that the family should be allowed to make the official announcement of his death.

“Please take down the post. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death,” she said.

The grieving daughter also questioned why members of the entertainment industry often wait until their colleagues pass away before showing them affection. She further appealed to people not to contact her or share her father’s photograph.

She said:

“Please, Actors’ Guild, I don’t want you guys posting my daddy. Make nobody post my papa, please. This is a very hard video for me to make. Nobody should call me; nobody should post my daddy’s poster.

“I’m still wearing my daddy’s shirt. Take that post down, please. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death. I don’t want you guys to do that for me.”

Earlier, Naija News reported that the National President of the AGN, Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, announced Ikpechukwu’s death in an Instagram tribute on Friday, November 6, 2026.

In his tribute, Yakubu described the late actor as another legend who had passed on, noting that his memories would remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Ikpechukwu reportedly passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the age of 71 after battling a prolonged illness.

A family source confirmed his death to Daily Post but declined to reveal the specific illness he suffered before his demise.

Similarly, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, announced the actor’s passing in an Instagram tribute on Friday, November 6, 2026.

In his tribute, Yakubu described Ikpechukwu as another legendary figure who had departed, noting that his memories would continue to live in the hearts of those who knew him.

The late actor enjoyed a career spanning more than 25 years and was particularly recognised for his roles in Nollywood productions, where he frequently portrayed traditional rulers, influential personalities and respected elderly figures.

Diewait Ikpechukwu was born on August 23, 1955, and hailed from southeastern Nigeria.

Before venturing into the movie industry, he was an accomplished footballer who played as a right winger during the 1970s. His footballing talent reportedly earned him an invitation to the Green Eagles camp, Nigeria’s former senior national football team.

He featured for clubs such as Blue Diamonds of Nsukka and Kaduna Rocks and also captained the Kaduna Polytechnic football team.

While studying in Kaduna, Ikpechukwu developed an interest in broadcasting and reportedly worked with radio stations, where he provided football commentary.

His involvement in football and broadcasting gave him early exposure to the media and entertainment world before he eventually pursued an acting career.

Academically, the late actor attended Comprehensive High School in Awo-Omamma, Imo State, before proceeding to Kaduna State Polytechnic, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in Marketing.

He subsequently completed his National Youth Service Corps programme at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and later earned a postgraduate diploma in Marketing from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

Before fully embracing acting, Ikpechukwu worked with the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL), where he held the position of business office manager.

His transition into entertainment followed his involvement in television productions at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Enugu.

He made his feature film debut in Evil Men in 1998, playing the role of a traditional ruler. The movie also featured prominent actors, including Pete Edochie, Alex Usifo and Liz Benson.

The production marked an important turning point in his acting career and helped establish his presence in Nollywood.

Over the years, Ikpechukwu became a familiar face to movie lovers through his convincing portrayals of kings, traditional rulers, elderly statesmen and other influential personalities.

His commanding screen presence made him particularly recognisable in films centred on traditional institutions, cultural heritage and African customs.

His death marks another loss for the Nigerian entertainment industry, with tributes expected to continue from colleagues, fans and admirers.

‘Why Would Davido Want Mohbad’s Catalogue?’ – Israel DMW Fires Back At VDM

Published

Israel DMW, logistics manager to award-winning Nigerian singer Davido, has denied allegations linking his boss to the controversy surrounding Naira Marley following the death of his former signee, Mohbad.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

His response comes after social media critic VeryDarkMan, popularly known as VDM, released a video on Thursday explaining his fallout with Davido, Zlatan Ibile and other Nigerian entertainers.

VDM claimed that his disagreement with the singers stemmed from their differing positions during the campaign for justice for the late Mohbad.

He explained that his relationship with the artistes deteriorated after he allegedly obtained a WhatsApp group conversation in 2025, which he claimed suggested that some individuals within Davido’s circle were involved in his arrest in 2024.

The critic also alleged that he made several attempts to reach Davido for an explanation but received no response.

Reacting in a post shared on his Instagram page on Friday, Israel insisted that Davido had no involvement in Naira Marley’s ordeal during the Mohbad controversy and was not part of any plan to have VDM arrested.

He also dismissed claims that Davido had requested Mohbad’s music catalogue or attempted to sign Zino to his record label, describing the information allegedly given to VDM as false.

Israel wrote, “Dearest Nigerians, Oga had no hand in Naira Marley’s ordeals during his trying times in Mohbad’s case or in any plot to see VDM being arrested. Those who were in that WhatsApp group got there without his introduction or approval. Why would Oga be joining issues with Samklef?

“Oga called for Mohbad’s catalogue, or even tried to sign Zino? How na? Those who told VDM that fully lied.

“Serious pressure even came for Oga to unfollow Naira Marley on Instagram, and he said categorically, ‘No, no,’ that he wants the police to do their job. That he doesn’t want to believe any hearsay. Naira and Oga are cool. They even made a hit song.

“On the issue that happened in Naira’s house, it was our then Tolu 30bg who had issues with one of Naira’s boys. Nobody was beaten or attacked. Thank you all.”
