‘I Have Moved On’ – Ezekwesili Explains Why She Won’t Return To Government,
Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has explained why she rejected offers to return to government after leaving public service.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ezekwesili said young people should be given opportunities to occupy leadership positions and contribute to solving Africa’s challenges.
She made the remarks during an appearance on Founders Connect.
The former minister recalled that during the administration of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, she was encouraged to remain in government and serve as a member of his cabinet.
However, she declined the offer, maintaining that she was ready to move on from public service.
Ezekwesili explained that she even offered to assist the president in identifying qualified individuals who could be considered for cabinet positions instead of returning to government herself.
She said: “Musa Yar’Adua was insistent that I shouldn’t go to the bank. I should remain so that I would be in his cabinet. And I said no, I’m sorry, I’m done. I’m out of here. I’m going to help you find the best of people that you can choose from.
“There are many options. We have young people. We must continue to invest in them and know how to make sure that they get that opportunity to take the continent to the highest heights possible.
“Intergenerationally, we can be advising them, mentoring them, but we must not wait until they are 63 before they become people who are trying to solve our problems.
“In my own case, by the time I was leaving government, I was 44. When I went to the bank, I was the youngest vice president at the age of 44.
“Why should we be waiting for people to be 50-something before we put them to solve Africa’s problems?
“That’s why I believe in your generation to take over and solve these problems that we have struggled with for too long. Keep doing what you’re doing.”

Fresh Setback For Education Sector As Senate Suspends New University Bills.
The Nigerian Senate has directed its committees to suspend consideration of bills seeking the establishment of new universities and other tertiary institutions across the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The directive follows the Federal Government’s decision to impose a six-year moratorium on the creation of new higher institutions, allowing existing schools to improve their infrastructure and academic standards.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele announced the decision during Wednesday’s plenary session.
He said the order applies to the Senate Committees on Tertiary Institutions and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.
Bamidele also directed the Clerk of the Senate, Emmanuel Odo, to notify lawmakers about the government’s policy to prevent them from sponsoring bills that conflict with the decision.
He further advised committees responsible for education matters to stop submitting proposals for the establishment of new tertiary institutions for consideration during plenary sessions.
He said: “The policy is necessary to allow existing universities and other tertiary institutions to consolidate their operations and improve infrastructure before additional institutions were considered.
“I also advised education committees to avoid presenting bills seeking the establishment of new institutions for consideration during plenary.
“The Federal Government had made efforts to distribute universities across different parts of the country, making it necessary to consolidate existing investments.”

Being Rich Doesn’t Make You A Ritualist’ – Tonto Dikeh Sends Strong Message.
Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has warned against the assumption that wealthy people make their money through rituals or immoral activities.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The actress made this known while preaching to members of her newly established ministry, New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle (NWPT).
She explained that people possess different abilities and talents that can help them build wealth, noting that many individuals already have what they need to become successful but have yet to discover or develop their potential.
Dikeh encouraged her listeners to identify and improve their talents rather than allow their gifts to remain unused.
She said: “There’s so much power in you to produce wealth and yes, some of us are wealth. We just don’t have wealth. We are the wealth. You have to sharpen your talent and your gifts. The third one for the universal system of prosperity.
“Not every rich man is a ritualist, and not every rich woman sleeps with men. Some people have worked hard for years before their efforts finally paid off. So when you see him (someone) driving a Lamborghini, you’re like, ‘Hmm, he’s a ritualist.’ Not every rich man is a ritualist.
“Not every rich woman is sleeping with a man. Get it into your head. There are people who work hard earnestly and don’t even know God, because they discovered a gift in them and they did not let it sleep. Who told you God is only for you as a believer? No. That’s why I laugh at all of you. And I said to God, I said, ‘I hope these people just understand that God is a God for everybody.’
“The unbelievers and the believers alike. And none is more important. As a matter of fact, He is the one who will leave the ninety-nine and chase after the one.”

NJC Takes Disciplinary Action Against Judges, Suspends Some And Blocks Others’ Promotion.
The National Judicial Council (NJC) has suspended three judicial officers for one year without pay over various allegations of misconduct and violations of judicial procedures.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The council also issued warnings and cautions to several other judges over offences including unlawful detention of litigants, abuse of judicial authority, failure to follow due process and improper handling of court cases.
The decisions were reached at the NJC’s 112th meeting, held on November 3, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
The three suspended officers are Justice Hannatu Mohammed Kabir of the Nasarawa State High Court, Grand Kadi Mohammed Sani Salihu of the Jigawa State Sharia Court of Appeal and Justice Sobere Biambo of the Rivers State High Court.
Justice Kabir was sanctioned for ordering the arrest and detention of a litigant for 58 days over alleged disobedience to a court order without following the prescribed contempt procedures.
The investigation established that she failed to serve the litigant with the mandatory Forms 48 and 49 before ordering the detention. The NJC held that her actions violated the litigant’s right to a fair hearing.
In addition to her one-year suspension without pay, the council barred her from consideration for promotion or elevation for three years.
Grand Kadi Salihu was suspended over his involvement in reopening a judgment previously delivered by the FCT Upper Area Court.
The council found that he exceeded his authority by setting up a committee to review the earlier judgment. He subsequently transferred the matter to another judge, who received fresh evidence and delivered a different judgment.
The NJC considered the process an attempt to appeal against an existing judgment delivered by a court with the authority to determine the matter.
Justice Biambo was also suspended for ordering the arrest of litigants and imposing a fine of ₦300,000 on each of them in connection with a civil dispute.
The council found that he took the action without observing the required contempt proceedings or serving the necessary legal documents.
Like Grand Kadi Salihu, Justice Biambo was also barred from consideration for elevation for three years.
Meanwhile, the NJC issued a warning to Justice Kayode Agunloye of the FCT High Court over his handling of garnishee proceedings in a case involving First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
The council faulted him for granting another ex parte application for a Garnishee Order Nisi after an earlier application on the same issue had been withdrawn and struck out.
It also found that he proceeded with the application while other matters, including a request for a stay of execution, were still awaiting determination.
In another disciplinary decision, the NJC approved warnings and cautions for other judicial officers over their handling of court cases.
Justice Bello Kawu was among those sanctioned for granting interim bail to former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, despite an existing remand order issued by another judge.
Justices Danjuma Oyigbenu and Isa Ebini Kana also received warning letters for delivering judgments in an appeal after the 90-day period prescribed by the Constitution.
Other judges who received cautions or were placed on the council’s Watch List include Justice Mohammed Zubairu of the FCT High Court.
He was faulted for issuing court orders after being informed that an appeal had already been entered at the Court of Appeal.
Justice C. A. Ogbuagor of the Enugu State High Court was also cautioned for continuing proceedings in a case despite a pending appeal and an application for a stay of execution.
Similarly, Justice Chibuike Azuama of the Imo State High Court was sanctioned for granting an ex parte garnishee order that froze the bank accounts of Puma Energy, even though the company was not a party to the main case.
