‘We Have Decided To Tell Ireti Kingibe Bye-Bye’ – Wike Fires Fresh Political Shot.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that residents of Abuja are dissatisfied with Senator Ireti Kingibe and have resolved to vote her out of office.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike made the statement on Monday during the commissioning of a project in Abuja.
“We have decided to tell Ireti Kingibe bye-bye. Don’t abuse her o, just say sister, aunty bye-bye,” the minister said.
He expressed confidence that Kingibe, who was elected to the Senate in 2023 on the platform of the Labour Party but has since moved to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), would not secure another term.
Wike also accused the senator of failing to attract projects to the FCT, alleging that rather than work with him to develop Abuja, she had focused on criticising him on social media and television.
Meanwhile, the minister has criticised politicians opposing his Rainbow Coalition, describing them as greedy and selfish individuals who do not understand the importance of unity.
He argued that some of the coalition’s critics lacked the ability to unite their own families and communities, yet continued to question the alliance.
Wike made the remarks in Abuja on Monday during the commissioning of the Gwagwalada Civic Centre and an interactive session with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gwagwalada Area Council.
The Rainbow Coalition comprises political stakeholders from both parties and was established to encourage unity, cooperation and development across the FCT.
“Some greedy and selfish politicians do not understand what we call unity. They have no capacity to hold their space, they have no capacity to even hold their families, and they have no capacity to hold their communities. So they can open their mouths and say there is no Rainbow Coalition,” he said.
Wike challenged those criticising the alliance to explain why political leaders from opposing camps should not set aside their differences and work towards achieving common interests.
He described the political development in Gwagwalada as a shift away from confrontation, insisting that Abuja needed cooperation among political actors rather than unnecessary political disputes.
The minister commended political leaders in the area for putting aside their differences, saying their decision showed that the collective interests of residents should come before personal political ambitions.
He also urged FCT residents not to repeat what he described as the mistakes of the 2023 general elections, calling on them to elect credible representatives to the National Assembly.

‘Atiku Won’t Pick Senate President’ – Dino Melaye Declares.
The Deputy Director-General of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dino Melaye, has pledged that an administration led by the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would not interfere in the selection of the Senate President or Speaker of the House of Representatives if elected.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Melaye made the declaration during an appearance on Arise Television, where he said the ADC would allow lawmakers to elect their leaders independently.
He maintained that the party was committed to democratic principles and an independent National Assembly.
“To start with, an Atiku presidency will not determine who is going to be the Senate president, the president of the Senate, or the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“Atiku is a Democrat. ADC is a very democratic political party. So we are going to allow the people to elect their leaders,” he said.
Melaye argued that allowing lawmakers to choose their leaders would promote legislative independence and strengthen the National Assembly’s oversight of the executive arm of government.
He said an independent legislature would be better positioned to scrutinise government activities and hold the executive accountable.
“And I told you that wherever you have the members electing their leaders, there is some modicum of independence.
“So to start with, the ADC will make sure that the National Assembly is truly independent, and if the National Assembly is truly independent, that will drive their oversight functions over the Executive,” he said.
Speaking on how government spending would be monitored, the ADC campaign official said relevant National Assembly committees would be empowered to question government officials and examine public expenditure.
He specifically mentioned the Committees on Establishment, Finance, and Budget and Planning as possible channels for investigating government spending and ensuring accountability.
“The Committee on Establishment is responsible for questioning this type of spenders because they have direct oversight function over the State House. The committee on finance is there. The committee on budget and planning is there,” Melaye said.
