Pate disclosed that the patient departed Nigeria on Monday, October 26, with his approval.

The evacuation was carried out aboard a medical air ambulance through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

In a statement, the minister revealed that the 42-year-old patient was clinically much improved, stable, conscious and able to communicate, while laboratory results were gradually returning towards baseline levels.

However, he noted that the patient remained infectious, necessitating strict adherence to established safety protocols throughout the evacuation process.

The patient was reportedly accompanied by her spouse, who has remained asymptomatic.

Pate expressed appreciation to the clinical team for providing quality medical care and commended public health officials for ensuring that the evacuation complied with established best practices.

He added that further updates would be provided later in the afternoon after the patient and her spouse arrived in Switzerland.

The minister also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and obtain information from credible sources, stressing that public health measures remained in place across the country to contain the imported Ebola case.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Task Force on Ebola Preparedness, Virus Disease Preparedness and Emerging Public Health Threats has assured Nigerians that the country is prepared to manage the disease.

The task force chairman and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, gave the assurance while speaking to journalists after the committee’s emergency meeting at the State House on Wednesday.

Gbajabiamila explained that the task force had been working behind the scenes since its inauguration in June, a development he said contributed to the timely detection of the index case.

He further assured Nigerians that the committee would strengthen existing public health protocols where necessary and ensure stricter enforcement of the measures designed to prevent the spread of the disease.

Edo PDP Raises Alarm Over Attack On MC Porcupine, Demands Arrest Of Sponsors.

Published

on

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has condemned the alleged attack on popular entertainer Osagie Idieda, popularly known as MC Porcupine or MC Porkupyne, calling for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The opposition party also demanded that security agencies identify and apprehend individuals who allegedly sponsored or financed the attack, warning against the growing threat of political violence in the state.

MC Porcupine was reportedly assaulted by hoodlums while returning from an event in Benin City on the night of Friday, October 23, 2026.

In a statement dated October 25 and made available to Naija News, the Edo State PDP Chairman, Nosa M. Ogieva-Okunbor, described the incident as barbaric and unacceptable.

The party maintained that no citizen should be subjected to violence or intimidation for expressing an opinion or being perceived as supporting a particular political position.

“In a democracy, freedom of expression is a right, not a crime,” the statement read.

The PDP noted that Edo State, widely known as the Heartbeat of the Nation, boasts a rich cultural heritage and a long history of political engagement. It insisted that violence and intimidation should have no place in the state.

The party also condemned the alleged use of thugs to harass or attack individuals whose political opinions or affiliations differ from those of people in positions of power.

“Politics should be a contest of ideas, not a battle of fists and weapons. Disagreements are an essential part of democracy, but they must be resolved through dialogue, debate, and lawful engagement, not violence, intimidation, or the shedding of innocent blood,” the statement added.

The opposition party called on the Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Command, and other relevant security agencies to carry out a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation into the incident.

It demanded the immediate identification, arrest and prosecution of everyone found culpable, including the alleged attackers and any individuals suspected of sponsoring or masterminding the assault, irrespective of their political influence or social standing.

The PDP further called for adequate protection for MC Porcupine, his family and other residents who may be vulnerable to politically motivated attacks.

While acknowledging the Edo State Police Command’s announcement that an investigation had commenced, the party stressed that the process must lead to tangible results rather than end with public assurances.

“The people of Edo State deserve a credible investigation, accountability for those responsible, and justice that is both done and seen to be done,” the statement said.

The party wished MC Porcupine a speedy and full recovery, while urging political leaders, party supporters and residents to reject violence and promote peaceful coexistence.

It emphasised that political differences should never become grounds for attacks, intimidation or the loss of lives.

“Edo State belongs to all of us. No political ambition is worth a human life, and no disagreement should ever become a death sentence,” the statement added.

The PDP urged residents to embrace dialogue, tolerance and peaceful political participation, warning that thuggery and intimidation must not be allowed to undermine democratic processes in the state.

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested six individuals on its most-wanted fraudsters list following operations conducted across four continents.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The suspects were apprehended over allegations involving various fraudulent activities, according to FBI Director Kash Patel, who announced the development in a post on X on Sunday.

Patel disclosed that the arrests, alongside other enforcement operations, contributed to the seizure of assets worth approximately $17 billion.

He praised the FBI’s international fugitive-tracking efforts and its ongoing campaign against global scam centres, known as Operation Blackout.

According to the FBI director, the six fugitives had collectively spent more than 4,000 days evading arrest.

Patel said the suspects had apparently believed that leaving the United States and going into hiding abroad would place them beyond the reach of American law enforcement authorities.

“They were wrong,” he wrote, stressing that the FBI and its international partners would continue pursuing individuals accused of defrauding Americans, regardless of where they attempted to hide.

In a separate update on Operation Blackout, Patel revealed that the broader campaign had resulted in the seizure of nearly $17 billion, the arrest of hundreds of suspected fraudsters and the rescue of thousands of trafficked workers.

The operation has also involved raids on suspected scam centres, the disruption of online infrastructure used to facilitate fraudulent activities and efforts to identify individuals trafficked into working for criminal networks.

Patel further disclosed that more than 10,000 Americans had received warnings before losing their money, helping to prevent estimated financial losses of about $670 million.

“We’re not just investigating these criminal enterprises.

“We’re dismantling their networks, disrupting their finances, rescuing victims, and holding those responsible accountable,” he said.

The FBI director described the scam centres as criminal enterprises that exploit vulnerable individuals while targeting Americans through international fraud schemes.

He maintained that the agency would continue its efforts to bring those responsible to justice.

“To every criminal organization targeting Americans: Justice will find you,” Patel added.
