Reports indicate that the 86-year-old Dutch football tactician is in critical condition at a hospital in Arnhem, his hometown in the Netherlands.

According to The PUNCH, Westerhof’s wife, Lilian, disclosed the development to journalist Onochie Anibeze on Friday night, revealing that her husband was receiving treatment at Rijnstate Hospital.

Expressing the family’s distress over the diagnosis, she said the doctors had recently confirmed that the former coach had colon cancer.

“The doctor just told us he has colon cancer and we are all devastated. He is in a critical condition and emotional, talking about our two daughters. He wants to live. We need help. We need prayers,” she said.

Lilian explained that Westerhof was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, adding that the cancer diagnosis was a fresh development in his ongoing health struggles.

She also revealed that the former Super Eagles manager had been battling Alzheimer’s disease before the latest diagnosis.

The coach’s wife further expressed concern about the medical care he was receiving at the Arnhem facility, stating that she hoped to transfer him to a better-equipped hospital in Amsterdam or Germany.

“They appear to have given up. I don’t understand,” she lamented.

Westerhof, who celebrated his 86th birthday in May, remains a significant figure in Nigerian football history for his achievements with the national team.

Under his leadership, Nigeria qualified for its first-ever FIFA World Cup in 1994 and won the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia that same year.

The Dutch tactician also guided the Super Eagles to a silver medal at the 1990 AFCON and a bronze medal in 1992.

During his tenure, Nigeria climbed to fifth place in the FIFA world rankings, marking a historic milestone for the country and African football as a whole.

News reports that the former Ogun State senator made the clarification during an interview with TVC.

Iyabo, Obasanjo’s eldest child, explained that their relationship has evolved over the years, describing their current bond as one that combines friendship with a deep family connection.

She noted that their relationship has changed as they have grown older and approached significant milestones in their lives.

The former lawmaker disclosed that she would turn 60 next year, while her father would celebrate his 90th birthday in the same year.

According to her, age has influenced their relationship, as she no longer requires the level of parental guidance she needed during her younger years.

Iyabo stressed, however, that their bond goes beyond ordinary friendship, explaining that it is rooted in a strong personal connection developed over years of shared experiences and mutual understanding.

She said: “I am the oldest child. I don’t even know how to describe our relationship; we are more than friends now. I will be 60 next year, and he will be 90 next year. At this age, I don’t need a lot of fathering; we are more like friends, but friends with a deep connection.”

‘I Can’t Date Younger Men’ – 62-Year-Old Mo Abudu Reveals Her Relationship Preference.

Published

Nigerian filmmaker and media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has explained why she prefers dating men who are around her age or older, ruling out younger men as her ideal romantic partners.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

News reports that the 62-year-old media mogul shared her views during an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa.

During the conversation, Abudu spoke about heartbreak, dismissing the suggestion that a romantic relationship could easily leave her emotionally devastated at this stage of her life.

According to the filmmaker, any tears she sheds these days are more likely to be connected to her work than to issues involving a man.

She acknowledged that heartbreak might have affected her differently when she was younger but maintained that her priorities had changed over the years.

“I even cried recently. Heartbreak. Heartbreak. Nobody can break my heart. It’s not possible. Heartbreak. There’s no such thing as heartbreak at my age,” she said.

Abudu added that a man would not be the reason behind her tears, explaining that her professional responsibilities could sometimes become overwhelming.

When asked whether she would agree to go on a date with a man who approached her, the media entrepreneur said her decision would depend on whether he met her standards and expectations.

She explained that, at 62, she had established clear personal goals and would only consider a relationship that aligned with them.

“Right, I’m 62 years old, right, and I have set certain standards and goals for myself. So if you can meet my standards and my expectations, maybe you can take me out, maybe you can’t,” she stated.

The filmmaker also highlighted her financial independence as a major factor influencing her approach to relationships.

Abudu explained that she had reached a stage in her life where she could comfortably provide for herself and her family without depending on a romantic partner for financial support.

She stressed that she did not want a relationship that would introduce additional burdens into her life, noting that any potential partner must contribute positively to her well-being.

“The point is that I’m at a point in my life whereby I don’t need you to provide for me, right? I can pretty much provide for myself. I can provide for my family, which I do,” she said.

The media entrepreneur further emphasised that she was unwilling to take on a partner who would become a burden rather than a source of mutual support.

“The thing is that I don’t want anyone in my life that’s going to be a burden on me,” Abudu added.

She subsequently disclosed that she was more comfortable dating men within her age range or those who were slightly older.

Abudu attributed this preference partly to her traditional outlook on relationships, explaining that a man’s achievements and maturity were important considerations for her.

“I would rather date someone my age or someone slightly older,” she stated.

She further maintained that a prospective partner needed to have accomplished something significant in life to earn her respect.

“And therefore, in order for me to respect you, you must have achieved something. You must have. Because if you haven’t achieved it at 60, when do you want to achieve it?” she asked.

Makinde’s Camp Makes Bold 2027 Prediction, Names 12 States Tinubu Could Lose.

Published

on

The camp of Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), has predicted that President Bola Tinubu could lose in 12 states during the 2027 presidential election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The group attributed its prediction to what it described as growing public dissatisfaction over economic hardship under the Tinubu administration, arguing that the situation could undermine the President’s re-election chances.

It also included the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) among the areas where it believes Makinde could defeat Tinubu, despite reports of the President’s planned visits to some of the affected states ahead of the election.

Naija News reports that the APM camp stated its position in a statement released on Saturday by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Ihediwa.

The group identified Rivers, Oyo, Kaduna, Plateau, Borno, Enugu, Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Kano, Adamawa and Lagos as the 12 states where it expects Tinubu to suffer electoral losses.

According to the group, the President’s planned visits to these states would not necessarily change voters’ decisions or prevent them from voting against his re-election.

The APM camp blamed the alleged growing opposition to Tinubu on the economic challenges Nigerians have experienced under his administration.

It also accused the President and members of his inner circle of aggravating public dissatisfaction through what it described as political arrogance.

Furthermore, the group alleged that the administration had spent trillions of naira on projects and programmes it considered wasteful, while many Nigerians continued to grapple with rising living costs.

In the statement, the group maintained that Tinubu’s planned visits would not alter the determination of voters in the affected areas.

“Mr President should know that his visit to these states, if he eventually does, will not in any way change the direction or the determination of the people to vote him out,” the statement read.

The APM camp challenged the President to proceed with the planned visits and engage directly with voters in the states it identified.

“We challenge President Tinubu not to have a change of mind but visit the states to face the people,” the statement added.

The prediction represents the APM camp’s political assessment ahead of the 2027 presidential election and has not been established as an indication of the eventual electoral outcome.
