Moffi Is Back! Nigerian Striker Makes Instant Impact With First Bundesliga Goal.

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi scored his first Bundesliga goal for Hamburg SV on Saturday, October 10, netting an 83rd-minute equaliser before his team completed a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Hoffenheim.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Moffi came on as a substitute and rose to meet a cross from Miro Muheim, drawing Hamburg level at 2-2. His goal set the stage for Hamburg to find a late winner and secure all three points.

The strike marked an important milestone for the Nigerian forward, whose preparations for the season had been hampered by fitness issues that delayed his return to full match fitness and limited his chances of making an early impact in Germany.

Ahead of the encounter, Hamburg head coach Merlin Polzin confirmed that Moffi and fellow forward Yussuf Poulsen were available for selection after returning to full training.

“Both have trained fully with the team today, and are definitely options for the squad,” Polzin said during his pre-match press conference, according to Kicker.

Moffi had featured briefly in Hamburg’s previous league fixture, a 2-1 win over FC Köln, as he continued his recovery. However, he had not scored since joining the German side from French club Nice earlier in the summer.

The 27-year-old Nigeria international reportedly moved to Hamburg in a deal worth approximately €2.5 million following a deterioration in his relationship with Nice, where he had initially enjoyed a promising spell.

His preparations for the new campaign were further disrupted after he missed pre-season activities and later sat out a friendly against Copenhagen during the international break because of an injury.

The fitness problems also reportedly forced Moffi to miss Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, delaying his return to competitive football.

His late equaliser against Hoffenheim will therefore come as a significant boost as he looks to regain full fitness and establish himself at Hamburg.
