The veteran entertainer, also known as the Maverick, made the disclosure during an interview with Leadership.

When asked about his favourite drink, Charly Boy said he preferred water, while admitting that he smokes despite abstaining from alcohol.

“Water. I have never taken alcohol. I don’t drink, but I smoke,” he said.

Speaking further, the entertainer urged men to prioritise their health and stop suffering in silence whenever they experience medical challenges.

Charly Boy recalled how he publicly discussed his health struggles after being diagnosed with cancer, stressing that men should not feel pressured to conceal their health conditions to appear strong.

He criticised the belief that men must endure pain without expressing their emotions, describing the mindset as harmful and unnecessary.

“It has become a pandemic. You know how reckless men are now. For a long time, men have borne their pains silently, because ‘men don’t cry’. Men erroneously believe that’s what shows that they are strong. But all of that is nonsense and rubbish,” he said.

The entertainer explained that he had openly discussed his cancer diagnosis on national television rather than pretending to be unaffected by the condition.

“When I was diagnosed with cancer, I went on national TV and announced that my John Thomas had died (laughs). I am not the one to pretend that I am that strong,” he added.

Charly Boy noted that some men were afraid to speak about illnesses affecting their sexual and reproductive health because of embarrassment and societal expectations.

He emphasised that prostate cancer should not be ignored and encouraged men to undergo regular medical check-ups to improve the chances of early detection.

“But prostate cancer isn’t something that kills anybody instantly if you do the right thing by checking yourself up. It is said that prevention is better than cure. From as early as 35-40, you will start checking your prostate for early signs,” he stated.

The entertainer’s comments highlight the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding men’s health and encouraging early medical attention for potentially serious conditions.

The exchange reportedly occurred on Friday after Nkechi responded to a post shared by Teni and used the opportunity to suggest that the singer could be her next opponent in a fight.

“Teni, let’s go next,” the actress wrote on her Instagram page.

However, Teni responded humorously rather than directly accepting the challenge. The singer reminded Nkechi that she had expected the actress to serve as her personal bodyguard.

“You wey suppose be my bouncer,” Teni replied.

Meanwhile, Teni recently challenged her colleague, Tiwa Savage, to a physical fight in a video shared on her Instagram page.

The singer issued the challenge while discussing the earnings of Nigerian musicians and the lavish lifestyles of some male entertainers.

Directing her remarks at Tiwa Savage, Teni said she would beat the singer in a fight before eventually apologising.

She also questioned how some male artistes could afford expensive cars and other luxury items.

“Let’s fight, me and Tiwa Savage next, I’ll beat you enter bush, me that I’m already angry, I won’t even look at your son Jamal face, 1 billion,” Teni said.

The singer’s latest exchange with Nkechi Blessing has added another chapter to the playful social media banter involving Nigerian entertainers.

News reports that the actor made the disclosure during an appearance on the Africanalist Podcast.

Quadri explained that some of the actresses he dated eventually developed friendships with his wife, with their relationships becoming so close that they would discuss his alleged affairs with other female colleagues.

According to the actor, some of the women would approach his wife to share information about his relationships with other actresses, even though they were also romantically involved with him.

He said the situation sometimes led to jealousy among the women, with some of them informing his wife about his other relationships.

However, Quadri maintained that his wife did not confront the actresses over the alleged affairs, explaining that she was often already aware of what was happening.

Recalling the experience, the actor said: “It got to a stage, I won’t mention the ladies’ names in the industry. They would become friends with my wife and start giving gossip to my wife that I am dating so so so in the industry.

“And there were some of them that we were dating who went home out of jealousy. Meanwhile, my wife would say she was aware already and she doesn’t fight them cause of that.

“Sometimes when production ends late, they would sleep in my house. And that my wife is aware I am dating them, she would still feed them and everything.”
