Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca has insisted that his players remain focused on football despite the controversy surrounding the club following the Premier League’s verdict on its 115 charges.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Manchester City’s international players returned to training on Thursday, nine days after the Premier League published findings alleging that the club used “sham” contracts to conceal more than £830 million in secret funding.

The verdict was announced while several City players were away on international duty, with Maresca expected to address the squad before the team resumes domestic action.

However, the Italian manager said the players remained in high spirits ahead of Sunday’s Premier League encounter against Liverpool at Anfield.

“The feeling is fantastic, to be honest,” Maresca said on Thursday, October 8.

“The players are excited for the next two games. But especially they are excited because in this moment we are top of the league. The players are just focused on that.

“They know what we can control is the football side, they are not worried at all about different things.

“They know their profession and they know that the noise is there, but they don’t care too much about the noise. They are just focused in this moment on how we can beat Liverpool and how, together with the fans, we can try to win in Anfield.”

Maresca also said he felt “calm” about the situation, adding that the players continued to trust the club despite the controversy.

Manchester City have appealed the findings and have consistently maintained that they are innocent of the allegations.

Meanwhile, City striker Erling Haaland has called on players, staff and supporters to remain united as the team prepares for its trip to Anfield.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Haaland stressed his strong attachment to the club and its supporters.

“I care a lot about this place,” Haaland said. “I spent my first four years here, it’s a special place for us. I care a lot about City and the fans. I am a fan myself. I feel with them.

“The fans will have a good time on Sunday – we have to stick together. We have to stay with each other and stay positive. No matter what happens in life, we always have to smile. Stay positive, look ahead, and try to win football games and enjoy the situation.

“We have to stick together and spread the love to each other. Enjoy the ride and smile.”

City will now turn their attention to the crucial clash against Liverpool, with Maresca and Haaland urging everyone at the club to remain united and concentrate on their performances on the pitch.

FCT Strike: Wike Threatens Action Against Workers, Accuses NLC Of Political Motives.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused the FCT chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) of embarking on an industrial action for political reasons.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wike maintained that organised labour had already reached an agreement with the administration on the issues raised by workers and that steps were being taken to address their demands.

The minister made the remarks after a meeting with the chairmen of the six FCT area councils.

He also claimed that the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) had distanced themselves from the ongoing strike.

Wike warned that the FCT administration would enforce the “no work, no pay” policy against workers who participate in the industrial action, insisting that the government had no outstanding issues with the area councils.

“If you want to expose yourself, you are free to. But excuse yourself if you are not part of the union, so you don’t participate,” the minister said.

He maintained that the administration had addressed the grievances raised by organised labour and questioned the justification for continuing the strike.

“We have no issues with them at all, and they cannot tell the public that issues we have raised have not been addressed. Everything we have, we implement,” he stated.

The FCT minister further expressed confusion over the decision to embark on industrial action despite what he described as the administration’s efforts to resolve the workers’ concerns.

Wike also alleged that the FCT NLC chairman was pursuing a political agenda linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The dispute highlights the ongoing tension between the FCT administration and organised labour over the strike, with Wike insisting that the workers’ demands have been addressed and warning that those who participate in the action could face the consequences of the no-work, no-pay policy.

‘I Have Never Touched Alcohol’ – Charly Boy Makes Shocking Revelation.

Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has revealed that water is his favourite drink, adding that he has never consumed alcohol in his life.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The veteran entertainer, also known as the Maverick, made the disclosure during an interview with Leadership.

When asked about his favourite drink, Charly Boy said he preferred water, while admitting that he smokes despite abstaining from alcohol.

“Water. I have never taken alcohol. I don’t drink, but I smoke,” he said.

Speaking further, the entertainer urged men to prioritise their health and stop suffering in silence whenever they experience medical challenges.

Charly Boy recalled how he publicly discussed his health struggles after being diagnosed with cancer, stressing that men should not feel pressured to conceal their health conditions to appear strong.

He criticised the belief that men must endure pain without expressing their emotions, describing the mindset as harmful and unnecessary.

“It has become a pandemic. You know how reckless men are now. For a long time, men have borne their pains silently, because ‘men don’t cry’. Men erroneously believe that’s what shows that they are strong. But all of that is nonsense and rubbish,” he said.

The entertainer explained that he had openly discussed his cancer diagnosis on national television rather than pretending to be unaffected by the condition.

“When I was diagnosed with cancer, I went on national TV and announced that my John Thomas had died (laughs). I am not the one to pretend that I am that strong,” he added.

Charly Boy noted that some men were afraid to speak about illnesses affecting their sexual and reproductive health because of embarrassment and societal expectations.

He emphasised that prostate cancer should not be ignored and encouraged men to undergo regular medical check-ups to improve the chances of early detection.

“But prostate cancer isn’t something that kills anybody instantly if you do the right thing by checking yourself up. It is said that prevention is better than cure. From as early as 35-40, you will start checking your prostate for early signs,” he stated.

The entertainer’s comments highlight the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding men’s health and encouraging early medical attention for potentially serious conditions.
