Ondo Aircraft Crash: Military Source Raises Questions Over Radar Disappearance, Communication Loss.

Published

A senior Air Traffic Controller familiar with the military aircraft crash in Ondo State has described the aircraft’s sudden disappearance from radar and the loss of communication shortly after take-off as suspicious.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The aircraft, identified by tail number NGR 931, was reportedly travelling from Benin City, Edo State, to Lagos when air traffic controllers lost contact with it at about 9:13 a.m. It later crashed into a swampy area in Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Speaking to Punch, the Air Traffic Controller, who asked not to be identified, said communication with the aircraft was established shortly after take-off but was later lost. Attempts to restore contact with the aircraft were unsuccessful.

The source added that personnel stationed at nearby reporting points in Okitipupa subsequently reported hearing a loud bang, which was believed to have been the sound of the aircraft crashing.

According to the controller, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident may become clearer once the ongoing search-and-rescue and recovery operations are completed.

“I must tell you that this is looking somehow shoddy. When the aircraft took off, we were in touch with it shortly afterward, but it disappeared from the radar. Efforts to reach it were unsuccessful.

“But it was strange. Almost immediately after it took off, we lost communication with it. There was no communication, nothing. And that makes it suspicious. The aircraft just vanished until the crash.

“Even as we speak, the search-and-rescue operation is still ongoing, and when that is concluded, I should be able to get more information.

“The loss of communication is very suspicious, but God will help us anyway. It is very possible for us to get clearer information as things unfold,” the source said.

A resident of Ondo State identified simply as Sola told the publication that the crash occurred while it was drizzling.

“It happened this (Monday) morning, when it was drizzling. We heard a very loud sound at the area where the incident happened, but we couldn’t get there because the place is a swampy area inside the creek. We were just looking at it from afar.

“However, the police and the military people later came around for rescue, but the occupants of the aircraft may have died inside because up till this time I’m speaking with you, nobody has been removed from there, dead or alive. Initially, we thought it was a helicopter, but later we learnt that it is an aircraft,” Sola said.

Another eyewitness said military personnel were seen at the scene alongside local fishermen who joined the rescue efforts.

“I could see the military men in the area while some local fishermen too were helping out, but it seems difficult to remove the wreckage because the plane forcefully entered into the swampy area,” the eyewitness added.

FG Reveals How $500m Was Raised For Murtala Muhammed Airport Reconstruction

Published

on

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has disclosed that the $500 million allocated for the reconstruction of the old terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, was sourced from proceeds following the removal of the fuel subsidy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Keyamo made the disclosure on Monday in Lagos during the 67th anniversary celebration of Aero Contractors.

According to the minister, the removal of the subsidy improved liquidity and contributed to an increase in the country’s foreign reserves, enabling the Federal Government to raise the funds within less than two years.

He said years of subsidy regimes had placed significant pressure on government finances and contributed to the deterioration of critical infrastructure across the country.

Keyamo explained that the Federal Government’s decision to remove fuel and foreign exchange subsidies had created greater fiscal space for investment and infrastructure development, particularly in the aviation sector.

He said the government had mobilised funds for several major aviation projects, including the ongoing reconstruction of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and runway rehabilitation projects in Kano, Port Harcourt and Akure.

The minister noted that the Lagos airport reconstruction project had also created employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians working in construction and related services.

According to him, sustainable economic growth depends on continuous investment in infrastructure, while job creation can be driven by major development projects and expansion of the private sector.

Speaking on reforms in the aviation industry, Keyamo highlighted measures designed to strengthen local airlines. These include Nigeria’s implementation of the Cape Town Convention and the establishment of the International Registry system, which he said would improve Nigerian airlines’ access to aircraft leasing.

He added that the reforms were already encouraging more states to establish airlines and expand regional operations, citing the growth of routes operated by carriers such as Ibom Air and Enugu-based operators.

Keyamo also announced plans to improve connectivity to airports, including a proposed extension of the Lagos Red Line rail system to connect Ikeja with the General Aviation Terminal and the new international terminal at Murtala Muhammed Airport.

“I Can’t Date Nollywood Actresses” – Hanks Anuku Reveals His Reason.

Published

Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has revealed that he would rather date someone outside the Nigerian movie industry than pursue a romantic relationship with a Nollywood actress.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Anuku made this known while speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, where he discussed his reservations about relationships within the entertainment industry.

The actor said he had become uncomfortable with some of the lifestyle and activities associated with the industry, making him reluctant to date anyone working in the sector.

According to Anuku, the prevalence of flirtation and the changing process through which some people gain entry into Nollywood have made it difficult for him to determine who he can trust when choosing a partner.

The veteran actor also expressed concerns about how individuals now secure opportunities in the movie industry.

He recalled that actors in his early years had to undergo certain screening processes before gaining recognition, but said the situation has changed, with some people now getting opportunities through personal connections with producers.

“I’m not going to go out with anyone in the industry; I would rather go look for a stranger somewhere else. There are certain things in that industry. The flirts are everywhere, and when a woman is a flirt, you’re not sure if she’s clean or not,” Anuku said.

He added, “I thank God I don’t have any disease from whatever it is. It’s a bit too dirty for me now to go out with anyone over there, because everybody can come up and say, ‘I want to be an actress,’ because she knows somebody who is a producer. If a woman is clean, you would know.”
