A joint security operation involving troops of the Nigerian Army, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and personnel of the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, has reportedly killed a suspected senior commander of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Ondo State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The suspected terrorist leader, identified as Abdussamad Ohida, also known as Anwar, was reportedly eliminated alongside other suspected members of the group during an intelligence-driven operation in a forested area of Owo at the weekend.

According to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, Ohida was allegedly planning major terrorist attacks in parts of southern Nigeria before the operation.

Ohida was said to have previously served as deputy to the ISWAP Central Nigeria commander, Abu Ikrimah, also known as Abu Uwais, who was arrested by the DSS in 2023.

Following Ikrimah’s arrest, security sources claimed that Ohida took over the coordination of ISWAP activities across parts of North-Central and southern Nigeria.

He was reportedly involved in the planning and coordination of several attacks attributed to the terrorist group.

Sources further disclosed that intelligence obtained during the interrogation of Abu Uwais helped security agencies uncover alleged plans by Ohida to carry out attacks on civilians during the forthcoming festive period.

According to one of the sources, the alleged plan was also aimed at disrupting the 2027 general elections. The intelligence was reportedly corroborated by international partners from the United Kingdom, who allegedly supported the operation.

Ohida was also accused of planning and executing the December 31, 2025, attack on the Ipele Divisional Police Station in Owo, Ondo State, during which several AK-47 rifles were reportedly carted away before the facility was damaged with an explosive.

He was further linked by security sources to the July 28, 2022, attack on a military checkpoint along the Suleja-Zuba Road in Niger State, where soldiers, security personnel and civilians were reportedly killed.

The sources also attributed to him the July 11, 2022, attack on the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja, as well as the April 23, 2022, assault on the Ogaminana Police Station in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, where five police officers were reportedly killed.

Ohida was also accused of involvement in the February 7, 2022, attack on the Okene Area Command police station.

The source further alleged that he planned and executed the December 24, 2020, attack on a naval checkpoint in Okene, Kogi State, an incident that reportedly claimed the lives of two naval officers.

The source described Ohida’s reported death as a disruption to ISWAP’s leadership and operational activities in central and southern Nigeria.

The development reportedly comes months after the killing of another senior ISIS figure, Abu Bilal al-Minuki, and is being viewed by security sources as a setback to the group’s efforts to expand its activities in Nigeria.

Osimhen Returns To Training Ahead Of Crucial Galatasaray Clash.

Galatasaray have received a major boost ahead of Friday’s Turkish Süper Lig encounter with Kasımpaşa, with Victor Osimhen returning to partial team training following a groin injury.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Nigerian striker joined his teammates during the opening stages of Wednesday’s training session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities under manager Okan Buruk.

Osimhen took part in the warm-up, passing drills and initial team exercises before switching to an individual training programme under the supervision of Galatasaray’s medical staff.

The 27-year-old has been recovering from a right adductor injury sustained during Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir on September 4.

Osimhen scored in the encounter but was forced to leave the pitch in the 33rd minute after experiencing discomfort.

Subsequent medical examinations revealed an advanced-moderate strain with bleeding in the right adductor muscle group.

The injury kept the forward out of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, as well as Galatasaray’s Champions League opener against Sporting CP and Süper Lig fixtures against Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor.

During the international break, Osimhen continued his rehabilitation in Lagos after Galatasaray’s medical team advised against him joining the Super Eagles.

Taiwo Awoniyi was subsequently called up to replace him in Nigeria’s squad.

Osimhen is now being assessed for a possible return when Galatasaray host Kasımpaşa at Rams Park on Friday, October 9.

Reports from Turkey suggest Buruk may ease him back into action by giving him around 30 minutes rather than immediately restoring him to the starting XI.

The cautious approach would allow Galatasaray to evaluate Osimhen’s match fitness while managing his workload ahead of another difficult assignment against Barcelona in the Champions League on October 13.

Osimhen had made an impressive start to the season before suffering the injury, registering six goals and two assists in his first four Süper Lig appearances.
