Under the guidance of Eric Chelle, Nigeria will kick off their qualifying campaign at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo against Madagascar on Thursday, September 25. Following the home opener, the team will travel to face Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, September 29.

While acknowledging that both matches will present tough challenges, Lookman stressed that the squad’s primary objective is to secure maximum points. Speaking to Sporty TV, he noted that the team is eager and fully prepared to put in the necessary work to claim both wins.

This upcoming fixture marks Nigeria’s first competitive match on the continent since their dramatic penalty shootout victory over Egypt in the 2025 AFCON third-place playoff back on January 17, 2026. The Super Eagles will look to leverage the experience and form of key players like Ademola Lookman, who has featured in seven matches and scored one goal for Atlético Madrid so far this season.
