Burna Boy’s ‘Praise The Sky’ Takes Aim—But Completely Misses The Faithful.
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth, leaving theatrics behind.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Global music powerhouse Burna Boy has drawn heavy criticism for allegedly undermining Jesus Christ and the Christian faithful. During a toast at the wedding reception of his longtime musical director and drummer, Emmanuel Abiola-Jacobs, the artist remarked that had his bandmate fully returned to church or gospel music as once intended, he never would have crossed paths with his bride.
Opening with a jab over not receiving enough credit for matchmaking the couple, Burna Boy quipped, “It’s little things that pisses me off… You’re doing Jesus abi…,” before adding that the wedding would never have taken place had his drummer stuck to traditional religious paths instead of working with him. He dismissed conventional worship as sitting in a church and “clapping their hands and praising the sky.” Before diving deeper, it is worth noting that if the singer felt slighted when guests overlooked his matchmaking role, perhaps critics shouldn’t judge too harshly when a Nigerian pastor recently launched a N700,000 Christian matchmaking platform.
While Burna Boy’s remarks sparked widespread outrage, his supporters maintain he was just trying to liven up the reception and shouldn’t be scrutinized so heavily. They point out that his comments were made in a private setting and leaked only because an opportunistic guest recorded the moment. Even so, given his massive platform and the influence he carries, greater discretion—or a request to keep cameras off—would have gone a long way. Although he mocked previous speakers for “talking cho, cho, cho…,” one might wonder who truly came off as the babbler in the end. Regardless of his intent, OluwaBurna’s sarcastic remarks pale in comparison to the steadfast faith of those who truly know God.

Shattering Experience: Sharon Ooja Confesses How Playing A Bipolar Character Broke Her Normal Life
Nollywood star Sharon Ooja recently discussed the heavy emotional and psychological toll of portraying characters with bipolar disorder on screen.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
During an Arise TV interview, the 35-year-old actress shared that stepping into these complex roles leaves her mentally drained as she constantly shifts between intense emotional extremes. She noted that the experience has deepened her compassion for individuals genuinely navigating mental health conditions.
Ooja pointed out the difficulty of rapidly alternating between disparate emotions like joy, sorrow, and rage while keeping up with the demands of a performance. She recounted instances on set where the director had to intervene because she naturally slipped back into her normal demeanor instead of holding the character’s emotional state.
Reflecting on the experience, she remarked: “I think that because it was more mentally draining for me; when you’re a normal person playing a bipolar role, it’s a lot of work. This gave me so much empathy for people actually dealing with mental health issues because it was draining. My director would sometimes have to call me because he’s like, you’re not staying on tempo, you’re going back to normal, you can’t be normal. So, it was so draining having to be crying, laughing, angry so many emotions in one.”

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) verified that the matter is ongoing and that Odinaka is scheduled to appear at London’s Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, for a Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing (PTPH). This court date is designed to handle preliminary trial logistics and address the defendant’s plea.
Although social media claims suggested the complainant had dropped the charges or reached a settlement, the UK court has not verified any release, bail, or withdrawal of the complaint. Furthermore, authorities have enforced reporting restrictions under Section 1 of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 to safeguard the complainant’s identity.
Odinaka faces a total of five serious allegations, consisting of two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of attempted rape. The legal proceedings stem from his travel to the UK in mid-August to perform at the Davido and Friends concert held at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14.

‘They Wanted Me Gone’: Halima Abubakar Exposes Nollywood Peers Who Abandoned Her In Sickness
Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has opened up about her harrowing battle with ill health, revealing that despite expecting support from her peers, many industry colleagues completely abandoned her during her time of need.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an interview with Saturday Beats, the actress explained that while she initially felt deeply hurt, she has chosen not to harbor resentment, acknowledging how easily rumors and gossip spread within the entertainment industry. She noted that many individuals chose to act on hearsay rather than reaching out directly to verify facts, which she believes led to her unjust treatment and indefinite suspension.
Reflecting on the darkest moments of her illness, Abubakar expressed pain over the total lack of visits or check-ins from certain colleagues, stating that she felt left to her fate. However, she emphasized that she holds no sense of entitlement toward anyone.
“They don’t owe me anything, and I do not owe them anything,” she stated, attributing her survival entirely to her faith in God.
While she witnessed the true character and judgments of many during her ordeal, Abubakar noted that she has moved past the negativity and retains affection for her colleagues, recognizing that they may have simply been swayed by false narratives.
She also took time to express profound gratitude to the individuals who genuinely rallied around her medically and financially. She specifically thanked musician Patoranking and footballer Ahmed Musa for their kindness, while noting that her numerous messages to Don Jazzy went unanswered. Furthermore, Abubakar expressed immense appreciation for former BBNaija star Mercy Eke, alongside junior colleagues Destiny Etiko, Lizzy Gold, Monica Friday, Queeneth Agbor, and Regina Daniels, whom she credited with providing vital support and facilitating free medical treatment.
