Blood Money Ultimatum: South Africa Ordered To Pay R1 Billion For Every Nigerian Life Lost To Xenophobia

Nigerians residing in South Africa are pushing for heavier penalties against the South African government in response to persistent xenophobic violence directed at Nigerians and other foreign nationals.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Akaninyene Willie, President of the Akwa Ibom Indigenes Forum in South Africa, voiced this stance while commenting on the Nigerian Federal Government’s recent move to block further official travel by state officials to the country. Willie argued that Nigeria must step up diplomatic pressure, which should include demanding no less than one billion rand in reparations for every Nigerian killed or Nigerian-owned business destroyed in the attacks.

Speaking via phone, Willie expressed frustration that South African authorities have not taken full accountability for the losses suffered by Nigerians and other Africans. He noted the historical support Nigeria provided during South Africa’s liberation struggle, adding, “They have preferred to pay us back by killing and exhibiting hatred for us.” He also suggested that the matter could be escalated to the International Criminal Court (ICC) if the African Union continues to offer no assistance. Furthermore, Willie urged both the federal and state governments to speed up the evacuation process for thousands of stranded Nigerians still awaiting repatriation.

Weighing in on these demands, legal practitioner Osai Ahiakwo described the call for reparations as justified, though he deemed the travel ban by the Nigerian government to be inadequate. While acknowledging that restricting official travel carries diplomatic weight—signaling displeasure and showing that routine engagements cannot proceed unbothered while citizens are targeted—Ahiakwo emphasized that it fails to provide practical protection on the ground.

“It does not investigate killings, prosecute perpetrators, provide immediate protection to persons at risk or bring relief to families who have lost their loved ones,” Ahiakwo stated. He recommended that the Federal Government leverage the travel restrictions to compel South African authorities into taking concrete steps, such as protecting Nigerian residents, investigating killings, and bringing the culprits to justice.

‘Uzodimma Wanted To Be Lawan’s VP’ – Okorocha Reveals Imo Governor’s 2022 Ambition.

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has alleged that his successor, Governor Hope Uzodimma, sought to become the running mate to former Senate President Ahmad Lawan during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in 2022.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that Okorocha made the allegation on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television, a few hours after a Federal High Court declared him the winner of the APC primary for Imo West Senatorial District.

The former governor claimed that Uzodimma had ambitions for several political positions, including the office of the Vice-President.

“Hope wants to be everything,” Okorocha said, alleging that the Imo governor had attempted to secure the vice-presidential ticket alongside Lawan during the 2022 APC presidential contest.

Okorocha also questioned Uzodimma’s leadership, claiming that residents of Imo State were dissatisfied with his administration.

He accused the governor of failing to address insecurity in the state, alleging that violent attacks had increased under his watch.

The former governor contrasted Uzodimma’s approach to security with that of his own administration, claiming that he handled similar challenges without bloodshed.

Okorocha further advised Uzodimma to accept the Federal High Court’s judgment rather than proceed with an appeal.

“If I were him, let him forget going to appeal. Let him just accept this in good faith because he did not win an election,” he said.

He argued that the court’s decision should not be overturned through what he described as an attempt by one person to manipulate the electoral process.

Okorocha said his comments were aimed at challenging what he considered poor leadership under the Uzodimma administration.

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has urged residents of the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He said backing Tinubu would represent a strategic political alliance capable of creating future opportunities for the region.

reports that Okorocha made the appeal on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television.

The former governor is currently involved in a legal dispute with his successor, Governor Hope Uzodimma, over the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Imo West Senatorial District, with both politicians claiming victory in the party’s primary election.

The APC had submitted Uzodimma’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate, prompting Okorocha to challenge the decision in court.

However, on Thursday, a Federal Capital Territory High Court ruled that Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast in the primary and should be recognised as the winner.

Reacting to the judgment, Okorocha expressed confidence that Tinubu would win Imo State in the 2027 presidential election if he emerged as the APC candidate for Imo West Senatorial District.

“What is important to me now is how Asiwaju will be elected in Imo State. With this, my name coming on the ballot paper now, Asiwaju can be sure that his victory is given in Imo State,” he said.

The former governor welcomed the court ruling, insisting that the judiciary was not for sale.

He also declared that Uzodimma had “met his Waterloo”, alleging that the court had established that the documents presented by the governor were forged.

‘Peter Obi Is A Fantastic Gentleman, But…’ – Okorocha Gives Reason South-East Must Back Tinubu.

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has argued that the one-term presidency proposal by the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is not in the best interest of the South-East.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Although he described Obi as a fantastic gentleman with a clear mind, Okorocha insisted that the Igbo people cannot afford to take what he called a four-year political gamble.

reports that Okorocha made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, following his victory at the Federal High Court over the authentic All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Imo West.

“Obi is a fantastic gentleman, clear in his head. Oh, there’s nothing wrong with him. But we can’t gamble. We can’t do a four-year gamble this time,” he said.

Okorocha acknowledged that he had previously supported the idea of a single-term presidency but maintained that the prevailing political circumstances had changed.

The former governor argued that political alliances should be driven by strategic interests rather than emotions or sentiments.

“So we are supporting Tinubu, not on an emotional or sentimental basis, but for a strategic alliance,” he stated.

He explained that the political decisions made by the South-East, particularly in its quest to secure greater opportunities for an Igbo presidency in the future, could have significant consequences.

According to him, the region should negotiate political support based on its interests instead of taking a chance on a one-term presidential arrangement.

Okorocha also disclosed that he intended to engage political stakeholders on the issue, expressing confidence that they would listen to his position.

“I have not spoken to anybody, but I will speak, and they will hear me. They will listen to me,” he added.
