Why 2027 Election Will Be Easier For Peter Obi Than 2023 – Aisha Yesufu.
Aisha Yesufu, a prominent member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that the 2027 presidential election will be significantly easier for her party’s candidate, Peter Obi, than the 2023 contest. In 2023, Obi, running on the Labour Party platform, finished third with 6.1 million votes, trailing Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and the winner, President Bola Tinubu (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Yesufu argued that the extensive groundwork laid by the ‘Obidients’ support base in 2023 has paved the way for a smoother path to victory in 2027. She credited the 2023 campaign with demonstrating the viability of a “new Nigeria” and noted that Obi now enjoys nationwide recognition.
Yesufu also highlighted the strategic alliance between the Obidient movement and the Kwankwasiyya movement, which she believes will bolster the NDC’s chances. This alliance includes former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whom she identifies as Peter Obi’s running mate, bringing substantial support to the ticket.
Furthermore, Yesufu contended that the prevailing economic hardship in Nigeria will be a decisive factor in the 2027 election. She suggested that the widespread suffering has made Nigerians realize that religious considerations, such as the current Muslim-Muslim ticket, are irrelevant in the face of economic survival.

Tragedy Averted: Massive Fire Outbreak Shakes Abuja Train Station, NRC Speaks Out.
A brief wave of anxiety briefly hit the Abuja-Kaduna train corridor following a localized fire outbreak at the Idu station in Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) clarified that the Wednesday evening incident caused zero disruption to regular train schedules. According to the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the fire erupted around 8:30 p.m. inside the facility’s low-voltage electrical room and was swiftly contained by on-site maintenance crews.
Initial evaluations revealed that electrical supply cables linked to the control panels suffered damage, though the station’s backup solar energy infrastructure remained completely untouched. Unyimadu confirmed that temporary power has already been reconnected to the terminal’s lifts and escalators, with five out of the six amenities fully functioning by Thursday.
Reassuring commuters that travel plans remain secure, Unyimadu noted that technical specialists are carrying out deeper investigations to pinpoint the root cause of the electrical fault and execute permanent repairs. Additionally, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has been brought in to deliver vital technical assistance.

The Final Straw: ASUU Threatens Fresh Nationwide Strike As Salary Disputing Reaches Boiling Point
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a warning that it may resume its suspended nationwide strike without further notice if the federal and state governments fail to address unresolved grievances regarding university lecturers.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Following an emergency National Executive Council meeting at the University of Abuja, ASUU President Christopher Piwuna released a communiqué highlighting key demands, including the full implementation of the December 2025 agreement, payment of the remaining 3.5 months of withheld salaries, and the remittance of billions of naira in unremitted deductions from lecturers’ earnings.
While the union acknowledged that the Tinubu administration previously paid four months out of the 7.5 months of salaries withheld by the past administration, it insisted that clearing the remaining balance is necessary to earn full credit as a labor-friendly government. ASUU also commended specific state governments—such as Abia, Bauchi, Ekiti, Ogun, Benue, Yobe, Adamawa, Kebbi, Katsina, and Borno—for initiating the agreement’s implementation, and noted that Kano, Edo, Plateau, Taraba, Gombe, and Bayelsa have pledged to follow suit between September and October. However, the union warned remaining states to act swiftly to avoid a major industrial crisis.
Stating that the haphazard execution of agreements, unpaid balances, and unremitted pension, cooperative, and check-off dues are recipes for severe disruption, ASUU concluded that it will not accept blame if it triggers a sudden nationwide shutdown to protect the welfare of Nigerian academics.

Massive Political Defection: APC Members Rock Kwara State, Dump Ruling Party For PDP In Earthquake Move.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has faced a major political blow ahead of the 2027 elections, with hundreds of its members in Offa Local Government Area defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The defectors hail from multiple wards, notably including Shawo Central Ward—the political stronghold of Kwara South Senator Lola Ashiru—as well as the home ward of the state governor. During a formal defection ceremony in Offa on Tuesday, Ezekiel Adepoju, leader of the Shawo Central Ward defectors, stated that the group switched parties due to their confidence in former Senate President and PDP chieftain Bukola Saraki, believing the PDP provides a superior platform for the future of Offa and Kwara State. This transition was marked by a vibrant solidarity rally where local women marched through the community, sang traditional songs, and vowed to mobilize grassroots support for the PDP.
Adding to the ruling party’s woes, a separate faction of APC members from the governor’s own political ward also jumped ship. Led by Taofeek Mohammed, this group cited deep disappointment with the APC administration and widespread concerns over the state’s governance. Mohammed highlighted the gravity of losing supporters directly from the governor’s backyard, noting that true political strength relies on public confidence rather than government propaganda or social media narratives. The newly minted PDP members have committed to mobilizing residents extensively to ensure victory for the opposition in 2027.
