Taking to his official platform on the handle, Melaye asserted that should Atiku face any arrest or invitation stemming from what he termed frivolous corruption petitions, the ADC would demonstrate to the Federal Government that the general populace vastly outnumbers those currently holding political office. He emphasized that those within the government represent less than one percent of the entire population of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and declared that the party would prove that power truly belongs to the people.
In response to these developments, Atiku Abubakar strongly condemned the calls for an EFCC investigation, dismissing them as nothing more than a politically motivated witch-hunt. Through a statement issued by his media aide, Paul Ibe, the former vice president pointed out that he was previously subjected to thorough investigations during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, during which no evidence was ever found to warrant prosecution.
