Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has firmly dismissed rumors suggesting a rift between himself and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, clarifying that any differences they experience do not fracture their bond. Speaking during an appearance on the Arise Television morning show on Tuesday, Ortom acknowledged that occasional disagreements occur between them, yet he strongly reiterated his unwavering loyalty and commitment to both Wike as a national leader and their ongoing political alignment.

Historically, Ortom and Wike were central pillars of the influential G5 Governors—alternatively recognized as the Integrity Group—which materialized within the structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leading up to the 2023 general elections. This prominent political faction also included Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde alongside former governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.

In a separate political development, the PDP governorship candidate in Benue State, Michael Aondoakaa, strongly refuted allegations made by a group known as the International Centre for Transparency Nigeria (ICTN). The organization had claimed that Aondoakaa entered into a political pact alongside Ortom and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, to rally support for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), ahead of the 2027 elections.

Issuing a formal response through a statement, Aondoakaa dismissed the ICTN as an anonymous and faceless entity, categorically denying that any such meetings, political arrangements, negotiations, or agreements ever took place among himself and the other named leaders. He emphasized several key points regarding the false claims:

  • The accusations are constructed entirely upon unverified claims, lacking any factual foundation or evidence to portray him as a political bridge connecting Ortom, Akume, and Atiku Abubakar.

  • The accusers failed to furnish a single piece of documentation or proof indicating when or where such an arrangement was supposedly discussed or finalized.

  • Attempting to involve high-profile figures like SGF Senator George Akume does not lend credibility to the narrative, as dropping prominent names cannot convert fiction into factual reality.

Ultimate Twist: APC Caves In And Drops Shocking Election Petition Against Adeleke.

Published

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially dropped its legal challenge against the re-election of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke just a day after the petition was made public at the election tribunal in Osogbo.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The lawyer responsible for the filing, Oluseyi Oyagbile, confirmed on Tuesday that he discontinued the case following fresh instructions from party leadership and his clients. The withdrawal comes in the wake of an internal dispute within the party; another legal faction headed by Abiodun Layonu (SAN) had previously distanced itself from the lawsuit, asserting that neither the party nor its standard-bearer, Bola Oyebamiji, authorized a challenge against the August 15 election outcome.

Oyagbile noted that before officially dropping the suit, he requested formal directives via WhatsApp from party leaders to clear up any ambiguity and prevent further friction. Two separate petitions—one attributed to the APC and another to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—had surfaced on the tribunal’s notice board on Monday, both of which initially faced denials regarding their authorization from the respective parties. With the APC’s petition now dismissed, the ongoing legal scrutiny over the election rests on the remaining petition.
