BLOODSHED IN KOGI: APC Chairman Brutally Murdered In Shocking Gunman Attack As Passenger Abducted!.
Hon. Ishaq Onu Yunusa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman for Dekina Local Government Area in Kogi State, was fatally shot on Thursday, August 27, 2026, during an ambush along the Itobe–Ochadamu Expressway near Ojuwo Olijo in Ofu Local Government Area. First responders and police officers discovered an abandoned blue Toyota Corolla (registration GWA 636 CH) carrying the deceased chairman inside, while another passenger was forcefully abducted into the surrounding forest by the assailants. In response, the command has deployed a joint security team to comb nearby woods to rescue the captive and track down the culprits. The victim’s body was transferred to Grimard Hospital in Anyigba for an autopsy, and Kogi State Commissioner of Police CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi has ordered intensified patrols along the route to restore order and capture those responsible.

The Federal Government has issued an urgent flood warning through the National Flood Early Warning Systems Centre, cautioning that 915 communities spread across 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) face severe flooding risks from August 27 to September 9, 2026. According to Usman Abdullahi Bokani, Director of the Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, this impending threat is driven by factors such as continuous rainfall, saturated soils, rapid surface runoff, strained drainage networks, and swelling river levels. Residents in these vulnerable areas have been strongly advised to ready themselves for potential emergencies and identify secure evacuation routes.
African Action Congress (AAC) 2027 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has cautioned citizens against falling for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s stance on reversing the fuel subsidy.
