2027 Presidency: Akpabio, Bamidele Insist Tinubu’s Rainbow Coalition Is On Course.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele have described the composition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid as a historic development. The lawmakers said the inclusion of politicians from different political parties signals the emergence of a broad-based alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They made the remarks during Wednesday’s plenary session, as the Senate considered suspending its sitting to allow lawmakers to attend the inauguration of the presidential campaign council.
Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District, said the involvement of political leaders across party lines could promote inclusive governance and strengthen preparations for the forthcoming elections.
He argued that the development demonstrated that a broad political coalition was taking shape as the 2027 presidential campaign approached.
“My point, Mr President, is that in this country, in the best interests of the Nigerian people, a rainbow coalition indeed is on the move and very much on course,” the Senate Leader said.
Bamidele noted that the campaign council had attracted prominent politicians who do not belong to the ruling APC, describing their participation as an opportunity to incorporate diverse perspectives into the campaign.
Among those appointed are Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He explained that Soludo and Adeleke would coordinate campaign activities in their respective states, while Wike would oversee the exercise in the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State.
The Senate Leader called for a campaign focused on ideas, democratic values and national development rather than political differences.
“We will proceed out of this chamber as members of the ruling party, accompanied by our colleagues, to go to the presidential campaign council.
“We look forward to a campaign that will really celebrate ideas and celebrate our democracy. I really congratulate you, Mr President,” he added.
Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro, who represents Benue South Senatorial District, seconded the motion for adjournment.
In his response, Akpabio described the composition of the campaign council as an uncommon development in Nigeria’s democratic history since the return to civilian rule in 1999.
According to him, the inclusion of politicians from different parties reflects an approach to governance built on unity, cooperation and shared political objectives.
“This is not just an inclusive government in terms of infrastructure, revenue allocation and reforms. It is also an inclusive government in terms of unity of purpose in democracy,” the Senate President stated.
Akpabio added that the council’s composition suggested that Tinubu’s pursuit of a second term would be framed around national unity and cross-party collaboration.
“What we are going to witness is evidence that his second term is going to be a unity government, just like his campaign council is a unity campaign council made up of almost all the political parties in the country,” he said.
Although the Senate President expressed optimism about the significance of the alliance, he refrained from predicting the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
He congratulated Tinubu, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda and leaders of the other political parties represented in the council.
Akpabio also welcomed Soludo, Adeleke and Wike into the campaign structure, arguing that political party affiliation should not be the sole measure of an individual’s contribution to governance.
Speaking specifically about Soludo, a professor and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Akpabio expressed hope that the Anambra governor would contribute valuable ideas towards the country’s development.
“I can imagine how even a professor and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Soludo, will add his ideas to the next administration so that Nigeria will be better. This is the way Nigeria should be,” he said.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Although the three politicians are not members of the ruling APC, they were appointed as campaign coordinators in a list released by the party on Tuesday.
Under the arrangement, Wike will oversee campaign activities in Rivers State and the FCT, while Soludo and Adeleke will coordinate the campaign in Anambra and Osun states, respectively.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the State Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, highlighted the party’s nationwide presence and organisational capacity.
Yilwatda boasted that no other political party in Nigeria could match the APC’s structure, noting that it had more than 261,000 party executives across the national, state, local government and ward levels.
“No political party in Nigeria has our structure. We have over 261,000 party executives, from the national to the ward levels,” he said.
The APC chairman further disclosed that the party currently has 31 governors, alongside two allied governors from the South-West and South-East who belong to the Accord Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), respectively.
He referred to the two allied governors as the party’s “wingers.”
Yilwatda also praised the Tinubu administration, claiming that it had recorded significant achievements in its first three years in office.
According to him, the President’s policies and projects have produced tangible results that Nigerians can see and experience.
“Never before has a president demonstrated achievements in terms of policies and projects that can be visibly touched, felt, seen and heard like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he stated.
The inauguration was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, members of the National Assembly, state governors and other prominent political figures.

2027: APC Breaks Silence On Wike-Governors Rift, Reveals What’s Really Happening.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports of a rift between its governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing the alleged disagreement as unfounded.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The party insisted that both the governors and the minister remain united in their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the reported feud as a “false battle,” arguing that there was no significant disagreement between Wike and members of the Progressive Governors Forum.
Morka made the remarks on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television’s News Day, following Wike’s inclusion in the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
According to the party spokesman, the minister and the APC governors share a common political goal of ensuring Tinubu secures another term in office.
“It was a false battle to begin with. I mean, I don’t think there was any real tension between those positions because they united in their extraordinary commitment to the re-election of the president,” Morka said.
He explained that the Progressive Governors Forum consists of governors elected on the APC platform, while Wike, a former Rivers State governor, currently serves in Tinubu’s cabinet and has openly expressed support for the President.
Morka added that the release of the Presidential Campaign Council’s membership list had further clarified the responsibilities of those involved in the President’s re-election campaign.
He also pointed out that politicians who do not belong to the APC had been given prominent roles in coordinating campaign activities within their respective areas.
The APC spokesman described the arrangement as a significant development in Nigeria’s democratic process, noting that Tinubu was bringing politicians from different political parties together to pursue a shared objective.
He argued that such cooperation was unusual under a presidential system, adding that the President was working beyond traditional party divisions to build a broader political alliance in support of his administration and re-election bid.
“We’re seeing a president who is transcending all of the divides and really nullifying what I call the politics of difference between these partisans and bringing them together under the same umbrella to pursue a common agenda for the good of the people,” Morka stated.
