‎“Nigerians have sense. They should judge candidates by what they will do and what they have done, not by religion,” he said.

POWER PLAY EXPOSED: Why IBB Told Obasanjo Straight To His Face That Atiku Was Doomed to Fail!

Former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, details in a new book by Seun Oloketuyi, How to Win Elections in Nigeria, how former military ruler Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) privately warned former President Olusegun Obasanjo against trusting his vice-president, Atiku Abubakar.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Duke, rising tensions and political activities ahead of Obasanjo’s second-term bid created a major rift within the PDP, leading ten governors—including Duke—to discuss alternatives with party leadership. Obasanjo, feeling betrayed, reached out to Duke, which ultimately prompted a meeting at the Presidential Villa arranged by Atiku between Obasanjo, IBB, and former military Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar.

While formal discussions remained diplomatic, Duke recounted that IBB later asked to return to Obasanjo’s private study under the guise of retrieving lost keys. Once alone with Obasanjo, IBB dropped his diplomatic stance to issue a direct warning, later looking at Atiku and telling Obasanjo straight to his face, “This one cannot rule Nigeria.” Reflecting on the episode, Duke noted the deep mistrust of the era, concluding that “betrayal is a very crazy thing in politics.”

Court documents filed by Okorocha’s legal representative list both Uzodimma and the political party as defendants in the suit. The former governor, who previously represented the district, is challenging the outcome of the party’s primary election, questioning the validity of the reported vote tallies and the legality of recognizing the incumbent governor as the winner.

Furthermore, the legal challenge brings constitutional scrutiny regarding a sitting governor holding or running for concurrent legislative positions before the expiration of an executive term. Okorocha is asking the judiciary to nullify the commission’s publication of Uzodimma’s candidacy, command official recognition of his own nomination instead, and restrain the defendants from presenting Uzodimma as the party’s flagbearer for the seat.
