POWER PLAY EXPOSED: Why IBB Told Obasanjo Straight To His Face That Atiku Was Doomed to Fail!
Former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, details in a new book by Seun Oloketuyi, How to Win Elections in Nigeria, how former military ruler Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) privately warned former President Olusegun Obasanjo against trusting his vice-president, Atiku Abubakar.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Duke, rising tensions and political activities ahead of Obasanjo’s second-term bid created a major rift within the PDP, leading ten governors—including Duke—to discuss alternatives with party leadership. Obasanjo, feeling betrayed, reached out to Duke, which ultimately prompted a meeting at the Presidential Villa arranged by Atiku between Obasanjo, IBB, and former military Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar.
While formal discussions remained diplomatic, Duke recounted that IBB later asked to return to Obasanjo’s private study under the guise of retrieving lost keys. Once alone with Obasanjo, IBB dropped his diplomatic stance to issue a direct warning, later looking at Atiku and telling Obasanjo straight to his face, “This one cannot rule Nigeria.” Reflecting on the episode, Duke noted the deep mistrust of the era, concluding that “betrayal is a very crazy thing in politics.”

Taking to his account on Wednesday, Farotimi voiced deep frustration that the separatist leader remains incarcerated while numerous violent criminals continue to roam freely. He criticized the government for failing to resolve underlying structural issues and choosing instead to suppress dissenting voices.
Emphasizing his stance, Farotimi stated that he finds no flaws in the arguments Kanu has raised against the Nigerian state over the years. He warned that when a government refuses to heed rational and peaceful voices, it inevitably opens the door for more extreme rhetoric and radical approaches. The activist noted that he has consistently engaged with separatist agitators across various regions, including Igboland and Yorubaland, to address these pressing national concerns.
