Speaking during an appearance on ARISE News to discuss the political climate surrounding the upcoming Osun State governorship election, Aigbe alleged that Adeleke’s national support for the President is a tactical move rooted in President Tinubu’s family ties to former Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola. He argued that the governor is trying to secure the President’s favor while simultaneously pushing back against federal political dynamics in the state.

Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju, who appeared on the same programme, echoed similar sentiments, labeling Adeleke’s political positioning as contradictory. Adeyanju pointed out the inconsistency between the governor endorsing President Tinubu’s mandate at the national level and simultaneously accusing the Federal Government of plotting to undermine or interfere with his administration’s electoral interests in Osun.

Furthermore, Adeyanju contended that this alignment runs contrary to the standard expectations of an opposition figure, noting that political groups within the opposition sphere are typically expected to challenge rather than support the central government’s leadership.

Despite his family’s reservations, the singer expressed confidence in his massive public support and popularity, assuring his father that his involvement would yield positive results.

Additionally, Davido raised allegations regarding social media propaganda and political integrity ahead of the upcoming election, asserting confidence in a successful outcome and emphasizing that state funds should remain locally focused.

Reflecting on his conversation and stance, Davido stated:

“My daddy doesn’t want me to attach myself with politics and government, but I told him not to worry that I’m Davido, I’m loved, we’re going to do it. All of una wey don collect 100k gig from APC on Twitter, I know you all. APC can’t have a free and fair election, they know they’ll lose and that’s why they use violence.
