Political strategist Baba Yusuf has expressed deep concern over controversial remarks made by Islamic cleric Sheikh Jingir regarding Christians and the ruling party’s political arrangement. During an address at a political gathering attended by several governors and dignitaries, Sheikh Jingir reportedly labeled Christians as “infidels” while defending the ruling party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Key Reactions from Baba Yusuf

Appearing as a guest on Arise News, Yusuf—who is Muslim—strongly condemned the cleric’s comments, highlighting several critical points:

  • Rejection of Extremism: Yusuf firmly denounced the rhetoric as self-serving, demagogic, and steeped in dangerous religious bigotry that could destabilize the nation.

  • Concerns Over Leadership Demeanor: He expressed alarm not only at the cleric’s words but also at the visible dismay and subsequent silence of the political leaders and governors present at the gathering.

  • The President’s Household: Yusuf pointed out the inherent contradiction in promoting such rhetoric within a diverse administration, noting that both the First Lady and the president’s eldest son, Seyi, are Christians.

  • Call for Unity: Asserting that the majority of Muslims reject such inflammatory statements, Yusuf concluded that national unity requires leaders to actively transcend religious divisions and condemn hate speech.

POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE: The Real Reason Governor Adeleke Is Quietly Backing Tinubu At The National Level!.

West African Solidarity Network member Austin Aigbe has claimed that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is strategically managing his relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by backing him federally while working to curb the administration’s influence locally.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during an appearance on ARISE News to discuss the political climate surrounding the upcoming Osun State governorship election, Aigbe alleged that Adeleke’s national support for the President is a tactical move rooted in President Tinubu’s family ties to former Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola. He argued that the governor is trying to secure the President’s favor while simultaneously pushing back against federal political dynamics in the state.

Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju, who appeared on the same programme, echoed similar sentiments, labeling Adeleke’s political positioning as contradictory. Adeyanju pointed out the inconsistency between the governor endorsing President Tinubu’s mandate at the national level and simultaneously accusing the Federal Government of plotting to undermine or interfere with his administration’s electoral interests in Osun.

Furthermore, Adeyanju contended that this alignment runs contrary to the standard expectations of an opposition figure, noting that political groups within the opposition sphere are typically expected to challenge rather than support the central government’s leadership.

The Cross River State Signage and Advertisement Agency (CRISSAA) has announced a new mandatory tariff structure for outdoor campaign advertisements ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Under the new guidelines, presidential candidates are required to pay ₦150 million, while governorship hopefuls face a ₦100 million fee. The tiered structure continues with senatorial candidates at ₦50 million, House of Representatives candidates at ₦25 million, and State House of Assembly candidates at ₦5 million.

Speaking to the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Calabar, CRISSAA Director-General Ubong Sam stated the new rates are intended to regulate advertising spaces and ensure fairness. He also mandated that all campaign materials be removed within 30 days of election results being announced, warning that failure to comply or pay the required fees could result in fines exceeding one million naira per violation, enforced by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).

While the Cross River State Chairman of IPAC, Engr. Effiom Edet, deemed the fees fair, the announcement has drawn sharp criticism from opposition parties. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Action Democratic Party (ADP) have rejected the tariffs as excessive, arguing that such high costs are a deliberate attempt to price smaller parties and less-resourced candidates out of the outdoor advertising market.
