WHO ARE THE INFIDELS?: Dalung Fires Back At Islamic Scholar Over Explosive Muslim-Muslim Ticket Remarks!.

Published

on

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung has condemned statements credited to Islamic cleric Sheikh Yahaya Jingir, who reportedly asserted that backing a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket highlights the numerical dominance of Muslims in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement shared via his official Facebook page, Dalung cautioned against framing national leadership as a contest of religious demographics, warning that it fosters a hazardous form of religious majoritarianism. His reaction followed a widely circulated video wherein Jingir allegedly urged Muslims to maintain their support for the ticket and remarked that those opposed to it should leave the country, claiming ownership of the nation.

Dalung emphasized that Nigeria’s severe socioeconomic and security difficulties cannot be resolved by numerical strength or religious identity. He argued that a single-faith ticket does not automatically guarantee affordable food, job creation, better infrastructure, reliable electricity, or protection from insecurity and kidnappings.

Furthermore, the former minister took issue with rhetoric that categorizes certain citizens as religious outsiders or “infidels,” pointing out that Nigerians of various faiths have historically voted across religious lines for leaders they deem competent. He asserted that democracy should not be reduced to mere “religious arithmetic” and maintained that political arrangements should instead be judged on tangible governance metrics, such as security, economic growth, competence, justice, and effective leadership, rather than entitlement based on religion.
