Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike clarified that he has not discussed holding any leadership or membership role within the proposed campaign council. The rumors had previously named him among several key officials allegedly eyeing the top campaign post for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Addressing the claims, Wike reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Tinubu’s second-term aspirations, emphasizing that his backing is entirely independent of any formal campaign appointment.

Currently vacationing abroad after more than 30 consecutive days of heavy project inspections, commissionings, and new project flag-offs in the FCT—with more set for December and January—Wike stated that his immediate priority upon returning remains unchanged. He intends to focus fully on delivering his ministerial mandate under the Renewed Hope Agenda and securing a massive electoral victory for President Tinubu in both Rivers State and the FCT, with or without an official campaign title.

“Therefore, I do not need to be the DG or even member of the Presidential Campaign Council of Mr President’s political party to contribute my quota by ensuring that he wins handsomely in Rivers State and the FCT,” Wike stated.

Jonathan said, “I am deeply honoured by this recognition and I appreciate His Royal Highness, the Bauchi Emirate and the people of Bauchi State for this honour.”

The former president pledged to uphold the laws and traditions of the Bauchi Emirate Council and preserve the dignity associated with the title.

Jonathan said, “I will continue to respect the traditions and values of the Bauchi Emirate and ensure that the dignity attached to this title is upheld.”
