Out of 57 assets initially targeted in the January proceedings valued at over ₦212 billion, the court excluded nine properties due to insufficient evidence of unlawful acquisition.

This overseas assistance reduction is part of a broader British government initiative to fund domestic priorities and increase defense spending, targeting a drop in the Official Development Assistance (ODA) budget to 0.3 per cent of Gross National Income by 2027.
-
The restructuring impacts all 34 African nations, with severe cuts seen across the continent—such as Kenya facing a 92.5 per cent reduction, South Africa dropping to zero allocation by 2029, and total UK aid to Africa falling by 23.7 per cent to £639.81 million.
-
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stated that while the UK is transitioning away from high levels of grant ODA and addressing internal funding pressures, the country will continue its efforts through modernised partnerships.
-
The UK’s policy aligns with a global retreat from traditional foreign aid by Western nations, mirroring restructuring actions taken by the US, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden to redirect funds toward domestic security, defense, and economic programs.
