In a Monday statement, Police Public Relations Officer Bashir Usman noted that both the judge’s family and the Kebbi State Ministry of Justice have confirmed his safe return. According to the police, security forces are actively pursuing the perpetrators to ensure they face justice, while urging the public to share any useful, confidential tips to aid the ongoing investigation. The Command also reiterated its dedication to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
Prior to his release, Kebbi State Commissioner of Police Umar Muhammad Hadejia informed journalists in Birnin Kebbi that the abductors had initially demanded a ₦200 million ransom. Intelligence revealed that the kidnappers had communicated with the judge’s family and an Abuja High Court registrar during negotiations. In response, authorities deployed tactical units, intelligence operatives, and allied security forces into local forests and suspected escape routes, alongside setting up strategic checkpoints and stepping up surveillance to block the kidnappers from moving the victim.
