-
Defense by Leadership and Spokesman: While Information Committee Chairman Olatunji Fabiyi confirmed that members recently met to inform the Speaker he had lost their confidence and advised him to step down, Speaker Oladiji dismissed the claims as mischievous. FINALLY! Super Falcons Smile To The Bank As Federal Government Delivers Massive Long-Awaited Rewards!.
Hours before kicking off their title defense at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Super Falcons of Nigeria finally received their promised federal rewards for their historic 2024 WAFCON victory.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman Shehu Dikko handed over the packages to the squad in Rabat on Tuesday, July 28, ahead of Nigeria’s opening Group C match against Malawi. Official photos shared by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) captured Dikko alongside NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi and team captain Rasheedat Ajibade during the presentation. The packages included national honours certificates and title documents for the three-bedroom houses promised to each squad member.
The rewards stem from Nigeria’s unforgettable comeback in the 2024 final, where the Super Falcons overturned a two-goal deficit to defeat tournament hosts Morocco 3-2, clinching a record-extending 10th continental crown. In the wake of that triumph, President Bola Tinubu pledged a comprehensive reward package:
-
$100,000 for each player.
-
$50,000 for every member of the technical crew and backroom staff.
-
Three-bedroom houses for every team member.
-
National honours (Officer of the Order of the Niger).
While the cash rewards were disbursed following administrative clearances, the presentation of the housing documents and honors certificates was held back until the team regrouped in Morocco for the current tournament.
Explaining the timing prior to his trip, NSC Chairman Dikko noted: “I am leaving Glasgow for Morocco this week to present keys to the houses… Even their $100,000 has been paid into their various bank accounts. We decided to delay the presentation… because we wanted a situation whereby the players would be together. I am sure it will boost their morale ahead of the 2026 WAFCON.”
Despite the morale boost, the Super Falcons faced a shocking setback in their quest for an unprecedented 11th title, suffering a 3-2 defeat against tournament debutants Malawi on Tuesday night. Nigeria will look to bounce back in their upcoming matches against Zambia and Egypt to secure their progression from Group C.
