The Presidency has slammed Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), following his recent appearance on Channels Television. In a statement shared on on Monday, July 27, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, labeled the interview a “PR disaster” and accused the former Anambra State governor of misrepresenting his political history and refusing to acknowledge the 2023 presidential election results.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Onanuga took sharp issue with Obi drawing parallels between his own party-switching history and President Tinubu’s political background. According to the presidential aide, while Tinubu transitioned through multiple platforms—including the SDP, AD, AC, ACN, and APC—he consistently remained within the same progressive ideological camp.

Tracing Obi’s trajectory from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party, and now the newly established NDC, Onanuga branded him a “political nomad.” He claimed that Obi routinely abandons political platforms when they cease to advance his personal ambitions, rather than staying to build or strengthen them.

“It is not in doubt that if the NDC fails to deliver what you want, you are not far away from the exit door,” Onanuga remarked, adding that Obi prefers to reap where he has not sown. Furthermore, the presidential aide criticized Obi for missing an opportunity during the broadcast to put doubts to rest regarding his acceptance of the 2023 election outcome, where he placed third behind Atiku Abubakar and President Tinubu.
