  • The Incident: FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, stated that the four officers abandoned their assigned duty posts to create an illegal checkpoint near the Banex area of Wuse.

  • Extortion Details: The officers, unaware of the chairman’s identity, forced him to use a nearby Point of Sale (POS) operator to withdraw ₦53,000, including transaction charges, which they then split among themselves.

  • Disciplinary Action: Commissioner Sanusi described the officers as a “gang of criminals” and confirmed they are currently in custody. He emphasized that those found guilty will face severe punishment, including potential dismissal from the force.
