In a statement shared on Facebook, Arapaja described the gathering in Abuja—which also included APC figures Hon. Soji Michael Adedeji and Hon. Aderemi Oseni—as a productive discussion focused on the progress and unity of Oyo State. Furthermore, the former Oyo State deputy governor and former PDP National Deputy Chairman (South) reportedly held consultations with President Bola Tinubu regarding his transition to the ruling party.

Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma Joins APC

In related developments, Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma, the PDP’s 2023 governorship candidate for Sokoto State, has also defected to the APC. Previously a close associate of former governor Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Ubandoma was formally welcomed into the APC by party leader Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko at his Abuja residence. The move was confirmed on Tuesday by Wamakko’s media aide, Bashar Abubakar.

Ubandoma, who previously served as Commissioner for Finance and Secretary to the State Government under Tambuwal, cited Senator Wamakko’s inclusive leadership and political maturity as the primary reasons for his decision to leave the PDP.
