Health Risks and Ongoing Operations

  • Medical Warnings: Dr. Hope Adejor, a paediatrician, cautioned that the children are at high risk of life-threatening illnesses such as pneumonia, malaria, and hypothermia due to exposure to harsh weather, rain, and lack of shelter. She warned that some children, particularly those as young as four and five, might not survive or could face permanent health damage.

  • Military Efforts: Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, reported that troops are making “tremendous progress” in the operation to rescue the Oyo State victims, who are believed to be held in the Old Oyo National Park.
