A collision in Agaie, Niger State, resulted in five deaths and left eight individuals with critical injuries on Sunday.

The incident involved a trailer carrying approximately 40 passengers that was traveling from Gusau, Zamfara State, to Shagamu, Ogun State.

According to Hussaini Guregi, a Desk Officer for the National Emergency Management Agency in Agaie, the crash occurred when the driver lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle to avoid a stationary, faulty tanker on the road.

The deceased have been moved to the General Hospital morgue in Agaie, where the injured survivors are also receiving medical treatment.
Accident Involving Nigerian Army Recruits

On Saturday, a separate accident occurred involving a vehicle transporting candidates shortlisted for recruitment into the Nigerian Army from Imo State.

The candidates were en route to the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State, to begin their basic military training.

The journey was being managed under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel P.D. Ngal.

Footage of the scene showed injured candidates receiving assistance from responders, though official casualty numbers and the specific cause of the crash remain unconfirmed.
