Political Shake-Up In Gombe? Gov Yahaya Swears In Three Commissioners.

Published

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has cautioned newly appointed commissioners and other political appointees against inefficiency, corruption and unnecessary bureaucratic delays as his administration enters the final phase of its tenure.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Yahaya issued the warning during the swearing-in ceremony of three commissioners and three special advisers, urging them to prioritise performance, deliver tangible results and maximise the limited time remaining before the end of his administration.

He explained that the appointments were intended to strengthen government operations, improve the effectiveness of public institutions and enhance service delivery across the state.

The governor acknowledged that expectations from residents remained high despite the limited time available for his administration to fulfil its commitments.

According to him, the newly appointed officials were selected based on their experience and professional competence, which he expects them to deploy in implementing government policies, programmes and projects.

Yahaya named Dr Ahmed Wali Doho as Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Cooperation, Nasiru Adamu Degri as Commissioner for Water Resources, and Dr Muhammad A. Bello as Commissioner for Policy Coordination and Performance Tracking.

He also announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, redeploying Alhaji Shehu Yerima Abdullahi to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to fill an existing vacancy.

The governor instructed the new commissioners to familiarise themselves with the operations and responsibilities of their respective ministries immediately, stressing the need for a smooth transition into their assignments.

He further urged them to collaborate closely with permanent secretaries and other senior government officials to improve coordination, ensure prudent management of public resources and facilitate the timely implementation of government decisions.

“I expect each of you to work closely with your Permanent Secretaries and other senior officials to ensure effective coordination, prudent management of resources and timely implementation of government decisions.

“You must avoid unnecessary bureaucratic delays, strengthen internal accountability and ensure that every available resource is directed towards delivering tangible benefits to our people. At this stage of our administration, we have neither the luxury of time nor the resources to accommodate inefficiency, complacency or administrative lapses,” Yahaya said.

The governor maintained that his administration would intensify efforts to improve public service delivery during its remaining months, rejecting the notion that government activities should slow down as the tenure approaches its conclusion.

He called on members of the State Executive Council and other political appointees to build on the achievements recorded since 2019 and ensure that the projects, policies and institutions established under his leadership continued to benefit residents after his departure from office.

Yahaya also warned the appointees against corruption, indiscipline, abuse of office and any conduct that could undermine public confidence in the government.

He charged them to uphold accountability, participate in peaceful political activities and respect democratic institutions while discharging their official responsibilities.

The eldest son of Afenifere leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti and Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Taiwo Fasoranti, has revealed that his father died peacefully in his bed at the age of 100.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Taiwo disclosed this while speaking with journalists on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, following the death of the elder statesman.

He said the family was grateful for the life and legacy of the late Afenifere leader, adding that they viewed his passing not simply as a moment of mourning but as an opportunity to celebrate his longevity and contributions to society.

“Baba passed on this evening around 4 p.m. peacefully in his room, in his bed. About 4 p.m., 20th of October 2026, Baba was 100 years old.

“He turned 100 in May. We were all looking forward to his 101st birthday, but God knows best. We’re happy, we thank God for his life and for the impactful life he lived.

“I don’t count it as a mourning, but I count it as time to celebrate his longevity and his influence and impact in the lives of Nigerians, especially Yoruba people. The family is very grateful for the support,” he said.

Reflecting on his close relationship with his father, Taiwo said it had allowed him to share personal moments and conversations with the late patriarch.

He described his father as a man who communicated important messages calmly but firmly, noting that he remained deeply committed to education and continued visiting one of his schools until a few weeks before his death.

Taiwo urged family members, friends, colleagues and admirers of the deceased to honour his memory by supporting the education of children who might otherwise be unable to attend school.

He recalled that his daily routine often involved seeing his father before leaving for work and meeting him again after returning home, regardless of how late he arrived.

“My day starts with seeing him in the morning and seeing him when I get back from the office. No matter how late it is, he will still be up waiting for me to come in.

“I just want to thank God that I will remember a father who was very affirmative, very stern, but passed on his messages with little or without threat. He will communicate with you in a low voice, but the message is full of meaning. I think we will miss that in this family,” he said.

Describing Fasoranti as a committed educationist, Taiwo said his father remained actively involved in his schools until shortly before his death.

“Baba was an educationist to the core. Even until a few weeks ago, he still went out of his house to one of his schools,” he added.

He also described the late elder statesman as a selfless leader who believed strongly in giving back to the community.

According to Taiwo, his father consistently encouraged people to contribute to the welfare of the communities they served, a principle he urged those who knew him to uphold.

“Baba believed that you must be educated. Education is key to him. So those of us who met him, his friends, family members, colleagues, admirers should look for a child, educate that child. Sow into the lives of those people. Make sure people are educated. And also be a community person. Give back to your community. That’s what I would tell them,” he said.
