Highlighting the strong bilateral relationship, Njie referred to Nigeria as a “big brother” that has consistently provided support to The Gambia across various sectors, including health, defense, and technical aid. Njie noted that the delegation gained significant knowledge during their time in Abuja, stating that the insights acquired were invaluable.

Dr. Imeh Okon, the Administrator and CEO of PSIN, emphasized that the visit serves as a platform for mutual dialogue and learning rather than a one-sided presentation, allowing both nations to exchange expertise on public service delivery and institutional governance. She also highlighted that PSIN has modernized its processes by integrating technology-driven training and has successfully conducted approximately 3,500 digital promotion examinations across various government agencies.

Additionally, Dr. Francisca Odeka, a consultant to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, outlined the “One’s Knowledge” framework. Key aspects of this reform include:

  • Institutionalizing Learning: The framework is designed to prioritize continuous professional development among civil servants.

  • Performance Accountability: It links training outcomes directly to performance management, ensuring that professional development influences promotion decisions.

  • Consequence Management: The system introduces accountability by ensuring that employees are evaluated based on their commitment to required training, aiming to foster a more competent and performance-driven workforce.
