However, the military command confirmed that three soldiers were killed in the line of duty during an engagement in Zamfara State.

Regional Breakdown of Operations

  • Sokoto: Troops successfully repelled an infiltration attempt on Tureta town. Following an aerial sighting, soldiers pursued the fleeing criminals to Sulubawa Gidan Kare village. Despite facing a tactical ambush, the troops utilized superior firepower to break the resistance and secure the area.

  • Katsina: A precision raid on a terrorist enclave in Matazu Local Government Area resulted in two confirmed kills. The military recovered an AK-47, a PKT assault rifle, communication equipment, and stolen livestock from the site.

  • Kaduna: Acting on intelligence in the Kerawa area of Igabi, troops rescued three hostages—Bilkisu Hayatu (38), Habibah Sadisu (30), and one-year-old Abdulmutallib Sadisu—after the kidnappers abandoned them to evade capture.

  • Zamfara: While soldiers successfully thwarted planned attacks in Gummi, Maru, and Bakura, the operation in Maru came at a heavy cost. Military officials reported that despite inflicting significant casualties on the insurgents, three soldiers lost their lives. Additionally, four suspects, including alleged informants, were taken into custody for further investigation.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for Operation Fansan Yamma, commended the troops for their bravery and vigilance, noting that the ongoing operations continue to degrade the operational capacity of criminal elements across the North-West region.
