ENUGU POLL EXPLOSION: NDC Candidate Declares War On Results, Alleges Massive Electoral Fraud!.
Bishop Oscar Ossai, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election, has officially rejected the results of the June 20 poll, citing significant irregularities. Following a review with stakeholders and party agents, Ossai outlined several key allegations regarding the integrity of the process:
-
Technological Failures: He alleged that the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) was not used in certain polling units and that results were not electronically transmitted in various locations.
-
Irregularities: There were discrepancies reported between the results announced at polling units and those collated at higher levels.
-
Malpractice and Violence: Ossai accused political actors of vote buying, intimidation, and voter inducement, alongside claims of violence and the manipulation of electoral materials.
-
Bias: He further alleged that some ad-hoc Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff were affiliated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), calling their neutrality into question.
The NDC candidate confirmed that the party is currently compiling evidence—including witness accounts, polling records, and video materials—to seek legal redress. Ossai has urged security agencies to investigate reports of violence and called upon INEC and civil society groups to conduct a comprehensive review of the electoral process. Despite his rejection of the outcome, he appealed to his supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding while the party pursues its case through constitutional channels.
