The Obi Factor: Sam Amadi Claims Rivals Are Focused On Stopping Peter Obi, Not Tinubu.

Published

on

The Director of the Abuja School of Social Thought and Politics, Sam Amadi, has characterized the upcoming 2027 election as the most “farcical” in the history of Nigeria. Despite his assessment of the election’s absurdity, he noted that some self-proclaimed intellectuals and technocrats continue to participate in the process.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Amadi asserted that current presidential candidates are primarily positioning themselves against Peter Obi, the candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), rather than the incumbent, President Bola Tinubu. In a post on , Amadi observed that, “Everyone is running against @PeterObi for the presidency, not against the incumbent president @officialABAT”.

Resistance to Criticism

Regarding the political resilience of Peter Obi, Amadi argued that attacks on his reputation have failed to impact his popularity for several reasons:

  • Absence of Scandal: Obi maintains a strong political appeal because there are no credible allegations of corruption or significant scandal against him, a record Amadi claims other presidential candidates cannot match.

  • Elitist vs. Factual Attacks: Amadi contended that the criticism Obi faces is largely defined by “elitist derision” rather than evidence-based revelations.

  • Public Service Record: He credited Obi’s public service history with shielding him from successful political attacks.

  • Strongest Candidate: Ultimately, Amadi maintains that Peter Obi remains the “best available” option on the current presidential slate.

Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has described Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s landslide victory in the Ekiti State governorship election as a powerful endorsement of the ruling party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the election results are a clear vote of confidence in the APC’s governance philosophy and the ongoing reforms of the President Bola Tinubu administration.

“The overwhelming victory recorded by our great party in Ekiti State and our remarkable success in recent bye-elections across the country represent a powerful endorsement of the APC,” Yilwatda stated.

The chairman emphasized that despite current economic challenges, the results indicate that Nigerians are still willing to choose the party at the polls. He argued that voters can distinguish between temporary difficulties and the long-term benefits of essential economic restructuring, infrastructure development, and institutional renewal.

According to the APC chair, performance is the most potent campaign message in democratic politics. He cited Oyebanji’s re-election as a reward for visionary leadership, inclusive governance, prudent resource management, and visible development achievements in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and infrastructure.

Yilwatda further said the Ekiti election has become a national reference point for the party, proving that performance-based governance remains electorally rewarding.

The outcome should be viewed within the broader context of Tinubu’s reform agenda, which he stated is laying the foundation for a more resilient, productive, and competitive Nigerian economy.
